This is what happens when the most popular girl in school follows you into the bathroom at her own party.

“Well,” Vi finally broke the quiet, voice low and teasing, “if you’re gonna stare, at least look like you mean it.”
Caitlyn’s smirk deepened. “Oh, I mean it.”
Vi leaned back against the sink, blowing out a thin stream of smoke. “Big talk for someone who locks herself in a bathroom to chase me down.”
Their faces were inches apart now. Vi’s heart slammed in her chest, but her voice stayed steady.
“You’re obsessed.”
Caitlyn leaned in slowly, letting her breath ghost over Vi’s ear as she murmured, “Maybe.”
A new song started playing faintly from the party outside, with a deep bass that vibrated through the marble walls. The muffled beat wrapped around the smoke and their tension, filling the charged silence between them.
Vi took one last drag from the blunt, slow and lazy like she had all the time in the world.
“You gonna keep running that mouth,” Vi said, voice low, “or show me what you really here for?”
Vi’s smirk hadn’t even fully settled when Caitlyn moved.
