He is grateful for all of it. Joyful, disbelieving at his own luck, and endlessly grateful.

And God, the lavender work of art she was wearing today was both a lace-wrapped weapon and a daydream, lethal to his fragile heart, the answer to his unspoken prayers. Colin had punched him - not lightly - in the arm.
