Nikei Yomiuri does not like living in Pelican Town. He finds joy in running the local newspaper, but if it weren't for Emma Magorobi, Hajime Makunouchi, and Iroha Nijiue, he would never have even stepped foot in this place. When Setsuka Chiebukuro, the granddaughter of the late farmer who lived in Pelican Town years ago, moves in, Nikei doesn't expect her to change anything. She's just a weird farmer, after all.
It turns out that he is wrong in what he thought of her.
