Everyone was born without the ability to hear. It wasn’t a big deal. Everyone knew that once you talked to your soulmate that part of the world was unlocked for you. It was something that kids fantasized about, and adults reached for.
But not Hayden, he didn’t give a fuck. He didn’t need a soulmate. All he wanted was to live a normal successful life and maybe win some cups.
Cliff on the other hand longed for the day he would meet his soulmate. He couldn’t wait for it to happen and he would do anything in his power to make that day come faster.
Or a silly little soulmate AU I conjured up and figured someone would enjoy. (Turns out it is a lot less silly than I had planned.)

Stage left, Bood and Wyatt. Downstage, Luca and Dykstra were recruited to keep him busy until everything needed to be said was said. Let it not be said that the Centaurs were not committed; they had already had a dress rehearsal with Luca standing by Ilya’s locker, for Bood and Wyatt to practice a volume that could at once be overheard easily, but seemed conversational, so that it may be easy to think they did not realise others could hear them.
"What was it you were saying the other day? That Hollander seemed fond of Roz?”
(or, Shane and Ilya have some very well-meaning friends. Friends who don't know what they think they know.)

In the spirit of a Shakespearean comedy, Shane and Ilya get married really soon after this. And they live happily ever after...
This started wayyyy crackier. In my first draft, Wyatt spoke exclusively in Leonato's lines. There are still some remnants of that. Also, I was originally going to more closely follow the plot of the play, and include stand-ins for Claudio and Hero, but I just couldn't get it to work. I thought of using Troy and Harris, to follow the timeline of The Long Game/Role Model, but I didn't want to make one of them Claudio because then they would have to be evil :( Same thing with Rose and Svetlana. Obviously, neither of them is going to be that hung up on a little extramarital kissing. By the time I realised Troy and Adrian would have been perfect, I'd already written this.
Also for the FaceTime emoji feature, this was introduced with ios17 in 2023, three years after this all takes place. Suspend your disbelief please! Also ignore the fact that my five acts don't map on to Shakespeare's structure...
"Mr Backhand" is a reference to when Beatrice refers to Benedick as "Signor Mountanto", and I also tried to follow the structure of the gulling scenes at least.
