Fuck, Michelle wasn't even supposed to be home yet, it's far too early in the afternoon, if the sunlight creeping through the cracked window near the ceiling is anything to go by, far too fucking early for Michelle to be standing behind her with a smug grin plastered to her face.

“I’m not Tammy Thompson.” Mike’s eyes blaze. “I’m goddamn Mike Wheeler, and I’ve been in love with you since you set my hair on fire in science class when we were ten.” His jaw clenches, and Will feels like someone let off a grenade next to his head. “I realised I was in love with you when you left me for Lenora, and realised you loved me when you made up that bullshit about El asking you to make me the painting.”
Will feels the blood leave his face, feels his entire world shifting in an instant. “Mike–”
“And then you stand there and tell everyone it’s this crush that amounts to the same as some girl who didn’t like Robin back?” Mike’s voice cracks. “I– how am I that to you?”

Continues immediately after the events of season 5 episode 7. Basically the finale, but written by someone who actually cares about queer representation. Mike did NOT deserve that absolute assassination and I WILL be doing him right.
In other words, a fix-it fic based on my last byler theory on my YouTube channel (@i.dontknowhowtodance, the period is IMPORTANT), in which we get a Mike-central finale where byler is canon. I do want to clarify I only watched the finale once and I refuse to watch it again so I might get some plot points wrong but you guys don't care anyway because no one likes the finale.

Will's already three beers in, and Stacey Albright's living room is already spinning.
The party is massive. Half of Hawkins High showed up, apparently, all of them freshly graduated and desperate to prove they're not going to end up like their parents, stuck in this town forever. Someone rigged up speakers in every room. The bass thumps through the floorboards. In the kitchen, people are doing shots. In the backyard, someone's trying to start a bonfire even though it's June and already sweltering.
Will stays inside. He's wearing his green button-up, the one Jonathan said makes him look older, and jeans that actually fit for once. His hair is getting long again. He hasn't cut it for over a year. It falls into his eyes when he tips his head back to drain the rest of his beer.
"You good?" Dustin asks. He's leaning against the wall next to Will, watching the crowd with the look of someone trying to spot a specific person. Probably Stacey, which Will can't believe invited them to her house in the first place.
I made Mike Wheeler a whiny annoying bitch for Will! The Party goes to that party they were invited to, woo!
