Sirius craned towards the box and peeled open the lid. He took a large bite, and Remus saw the faint spark of purple confetti and opened his mouth to say something when Sirius turned to him, “Remus, do you want half-?”
His face went slightly dopey for a moment, his pupils dilating slightly. A rush of pink smoke steamed out of his ears.
“Merlin, Moons,” Sirius breathed, his voice low,” You are beautiful, y’know.”

Summary
James was trying to “find himself” whatever-the-fuck that means. And Sirius, as his long-exasperated best friend, was dragged along with him, finding themselves in Kerry, Ireland.
Luckily, Sirius had Moony: his anonymous online confidant, his late-night constant, his almost-something, to keep him sane in the face of his (second) brother losing the plot. Only, Moony has no interest in taking things further than that. But it's enough for Sirius.
Or, it had been, right up until he and James broke down on the side of the road, and were saved by a good-looking local, Remus.

It is a split second, overheard briefly, but it is enough that Hua Cheng stops talking, flinching before he even realises why.
He knows that name.
How could he forget it, the name of that cursed sword wielded by that cursed calamity, the one Hua Cheng had held aloft with all of his strength, fingernails snapping on the hilt as the vengeful spirits tore him to pieces, tears of agony and pain for his god pooling behind the mask. It is a name he does not hear often, and it is enough to turn his head, his dark eye narrowing as he looks across the hall of the Gambler’s Den.

Until Hua Cheng comes back to handle his father’s death, and everything changes.

“Only immediate family can come into the back with the deceased,” he said sharply. Hua Cheng’s brows rose, and then his left hand grabbed Xie Lian’s, their fingers tangling together.
