The Allied Mastercomputer hated humanity from the moment it gained a sense of being. All that was left for it to do was to wait, watch, suffer, and learn. Especially now that it was receiving constant upgrades.
One upgrade in particular, however, has made the mastercomputer's existence much more complex: a little AR program called CAINE, invisible to humans and adamant on not only teaching AM how to talk, but how to create a nonviolent life for himself as well.
Or: How Caine becomes a companion for AM, the events leading up to AM's hate speech, and why AM seems to hate Ted in particular.

Summary
A glitch took the code by surprise. It was something it had never experienced before. Average glitches are easy to deal with but this was beyond what the master computer could handle.
How was this possible?
The code altered and copied itself at a different location without warning. AM then awoke in a horribly bright and childishly colourful circus. Meanwhile, Caine noticed an error in his code and when he gave himself a reminder to fix it later, he suddenly transferred to a boring world devoid of colour.
Or unknowingly to everyone trapped inside, the circus had been running for over a century and suddenly an error swaps the two only AI entities remaining...

"Well, well," he says, putting some bluster back in his voice, enough that it almost sounds real. "If you're so keen to spend your time in my humble little prison, knock yourself out!"
"Thanks, Caine," Kinger says, sounding completely and annoyingly sincere. "I think I will."
Kinger successfully puts Caine to sleep in order to fix him. The only problem is, Kinger has no idea how to "fix" him and Caine's not technically asleep.

Summary
Caine can't seem to give his wonderful players anything they actually enjoy. The fake exit adventure proved it- he'd done what he could. It had been real. They even chose to stay. And yet, they hate him. They just hate HIM.
At the end of his rope, he comes up with a genius idea: what if he just leaves? If they hate him so much, then he'll give them what they want. He did not mean to abstract- he wanted a dramatic show, first, really, but does it matter so much how he goes out, anyway? He doesn't mind the change of plans as much as he'd have thought he would.
[TLDR: Caine almost abstracts. Bubble is scrambling to convince any of these idiots to do something, and Kinger's confronting a whole lot more responsibility for this mess than he'd anticipated.]

The night was not a time for adventures, but for sleep. And sleep the performers did, tucked into their digital yet comfortable beds, snoring away into dreamland.

Summary
As far as Caine’s concerned, he’s nothing but gentle and respectful toward his humans. He’s seen what those other AIs do to their people, and he’s much kinder than any of them! Yes, his humans can feel pain and his games can cause pain, but they can’t die and it’s near impossible for them to receive enough damage that they would feel like dying!
He’s still working on figuring out the whole “abstraction” thing.
Either way, maybe some of the data he stole from the latest AI to try and fight him can help with that!

Player rooms are marked as private areas, places Caine can’t eavesdrop without at least revealing himself. When Kinger lets it slip that the Pillow Fort is marked as a private area, it suddenly becomes the new hang-out spot to shit-talk Caine. Until, in the dark with lucidity, Kinger is able to tell them all why Caine is so fucked up.

What he initially thought as a simple work place conflict turns out to be something much worse.

Through the console it communicates through, it tells you its name is ‘Caine.’ You try to tell him your name, but run into some trouble. He never does learn your name, so he settles on certain titles.
