“This… this would qualify as a mental breakdown, right?” Triton asked, frowning over his shoulder to where Percy was still fuming in the corner. The lady at the counter curiously glanced over before lifting a questioning brow. “My brother – half-brother, technically, I have much better breeding – decided to run away from home to where our father can’t reach him and now he won’t leave. And now I can’t leave unless he leaves,” Triton continued. Percy opened his mouth to object that wasn’t what happened at all, but the tyrant only waved a hand to silence him. “He’s seen war or whatever, so if you could maybe just drug him then I’ll throw him into a suitcase and we can be out of here by the Summer Solstice!”

Silence. Finally, the woman cleared her throat and turned to Percy.

“I’m guessing he’s the one you want checked into the mental hospital?” She asked. Triton gasped as Percy punched the air in victory.

    “Aha!”

    Summary

The rivalry began long before Percy Jackson and Jason Grace met. It began with one arriving at the other's Camp, with one filling the other's shoes. A rivalry does not need attention to grow. It will feed, and fester, and bloat until it is confronted and either defeated or fulfilled.

Percy's problem isn't with Jason. It's with the Romans' way of things. It's with their child army, and their blind compliance to the gods, and their harsh standards and the division between their cohorts. Praetor Jason Grace is just the easiest target.

Jason doesn't have an issue with Percy. He just has an issue with how much acknowledgement the gods give the Greeks, with how low the Greeks' lifespan is, with how much freer and happier the Greeks are. He has an issue with the fact that his father still won't acknowledge him, won't talk to him. He has an issue with the sense of wrongness the idea of being Greek or Roman gives him. Maybe Percy is just the easiest scapegoat, but...Jason has no other target.

    Summary

Maia Roberts knows what it is like to born with teeth in your neck.

She carries the scars to this day of the attack. She doesn’t think she’s ever going to be able to work it away.

She is a werewolf because she trusted a boy who was strong enough to ruin her. A boy who was beautiful, and made her feel beautiful, and then broke her.

Jace and Simon are both beautiful, and strong, and have the potential to be brutal.

Simon is a dork, a musician, but he is also a vampire, with a bloodlust unmatched by any other species; Jace is a nephilim, a Shadowhunter, who comes from a society that view Downworlders—that views people like her—as less.

There is every potential in the world for them to break her. For them to sink their teeth, their nails, their blade, into her if she trusts them enough to give them even an inch.

So what happens when she is locked in a room with a starving Simon?

(When Maia is taken by Valentine alongside Simon, Jace will do anything to save their lives. All three of them struggle to deal with the aftermath, but at the end of the day, three lonely souls might understand each other better than they'd predicted.)

    Summary

So Anakin Skywalker leaves the Jedi Order and shifts the course of Qui-Gon Jin’s prophecy forever—

But he doesn’t care about fate.

All that Anakin cares about is her and the children, Padmé knows, and she takes his promise when they marry—not in secret, because he is happy to become a Senator’s husband. Obi-Wan attends, as a Jedi representative, but it doesn’t feel right.

What would feel right would be him walking Anakin down the aisle. Shmi is dead, buried in the sands of Tatooine, and Obi-Wan is the one that Anakin is closest to in the world. Padme cannot marry Anakin without knowing that he approves.

Obi-Wan approves, because he does attend with a smile on his lips, but there is something that aches in his bright eyes when he congratulates them.

And Padmé thinks—Anakin is the one that Obi-Wan is closest to in the galaxy. Obi-Wan’s world has narrowed down to Jedi master and padawan for decades, and now he has neither.

And something in her yearns for him to stay.

(After they escape the Arena, Obi-Wan senses the twins in Padmé's womb, and everything changes. Anakin still dreams of the galaxy ending and Obi-Wan won't stay, but Padmé refuses to let the people she loves burn.)

    Summary

"This is Guiding Light, with your host, Ben Kenobi, and you're listening to K-JEDI."

Anakin starts listening to the radio on nights he can't sleep. Ben Kenobi's show is random, eclectic, meandering, and sometimes confusing, but it's good, too, and Anakin is grateful for the company in the middle of the night.

And then one night, everything changed. "I feel like chatting. Here's the number to the station. Anyone want to talk?"

Anakin woke up his phone, jabbed his finger at the numbers, and hit Send before he could talk himself out of it.
