“Wakita-kun!” came Present Mic’s bright voice. “I wasn’t expecting anyone to still be on at this time of night.” He let out a crackling laugh that was definitely completely faked.
Yuuki hummed back noncommittedly. “You set up a night shift,” he reminded the hero, even though they both knew Present Mic knew that. Even if the hero was (much) younger than most of his team, he was also very smart. There was no way he’d forget.
“Ah, I did, I did,” Present Mic replied. Did he sound out of breath? Yuuki thought he might be out of breath.
Yuuki’s fingers hovered next to the ‘call backup’ signal — half this job (the half not covered by paperwork) was listening to your instincts, and Yuuki’s were rather screaming at him.
“Do you require assistance?” he repeated.

Benn Beckman hums to himself, leaning against the railing by Red’s gangplank, his cigarette just about the only flame in sight. Which isn’t to say the world around him is dark, not by any means; full moon, after all, and without a cloud in sight, leaving the ship and the tiny docks and the sleepy village clear enough to see.
Not to mention the behemoth that comes ambling out their galley door.
Beck smokes, and hums, and watches as a wolf pads quietly around all of the Red Force’s deck. The massive animal’s as tall as his chest, wicked claws softly tap-tapping on wooden planks with each step, long bushy tail flicking from time to time. Even softened by the moonlight, deep red fur gleams like blood, a terrifying sight for any enemy who should find themselves on the receiving end of a vicious snarl.
Finished with his inspection, the wolf comes over to Beck, tail properly wagging when he scratches behind an ear.

Frank’s knife aches in his pocket; he wants to flick it open, press the tip of it into those cheeks, first one, then the other. Watch the flesh dip, then split and part for the blade. He wants to carve that face.
“I’m headed for Nevada,” he says. “Any bit could help.”
“Hey, it’s your lucky day!” the kid says with a broad grin that stretches his plush cupid lips really far. “Hop in!”
Frank climbs into the back seat, slips off his backpack.
“Thank you boys so much,” he says, extends a hand. “My name’s Frank.”
The kid on the passenger side shakes it, easy and firm.
“I’m Daniel, this is Armand.”

Her dad went to rehab. Her dad never came home. Her parents split, and Dad got visitation. He took the train in. He was working in New Haven, her mother had said. Leni was a baby.
She was going to pass out.
She dropped the photos onto the table and scrubbed her face with both of her hands to try to ground herself.
“Vampires don’t play with their food for forty-five years. They kill ‘em or they turn ‘em. They don’t…set up house,” She looked down, one of the last photos that had landed face up was her father and some vampire antiquing in Ridgefield.

If Hikaru is a monster to the letter, then Yoshiki is a monster by nature.
This selfishness, this repulsiveness that he shamefully hides under a veneer of aloofness, is nothing but what he truly is at his core. For the longest time, he has made his absolute best effort to pretend otherwise, to turn his face from the truth, to portray himself as anything but what he truly is.
But by the same metric that Hikaru isn’t the same friend he spent his whole childhood with, Yoshiki is nothing but the culmination of everything he tries to conceal, and regardless of how much he tries to deny it, he knows himself better than anyone.
And if he can believe that there’s salvation for a monster like Hikaru , then surely there must be salvation, too, for a monster like Yoshiki.
Or: TSHD/JJK Crossover - Nobara and Megumi are sent to Kubitachi to exorcise a Curse and cross paths with Hikaru and Yoshiki.

If you heard "Kelly Wilson, Government Liaison to the South Hill Branch of the Justice Squad" you might imagine a sharp dressed, steely eyed, middle aged man making tough calls on the comms while local heroes engaged supervillains.
That's Director Richardson.
Kelly was a young woman in her late twenties, often in a rumpled skirt suit, with a much smaller office. Her job was mostly to make sure the government's money was being spent well, so she was more of an auditor than anything else. Yes, she had a badge and could technically call herself a federal agent, but you could say the same about a food safety inspector for the FDA. In a perfect world, the closest she'd come to dealing with villains was a guy at an insurance company she had to convince to pay for damage from a hero fight.
That was a prediction that turned out to be both one hundred percent correct and incredibly misleading.
