Jon never knew it could be so cold.
It’s so cold that the jagged metal piercing his side feels like an icicle. So cold he can’t feel his fingers, his toes, his back against the snow, though he hears it crunching beneath him. So cold his eyes feel like they’re growing thin sheets of frost between every blink.
It seems unfair that anything this cold could still hurt.

Summary
Martin Blackwood is a reporter for The Observer newspaper. He’s a normal enough man, and he’d like to keep it that way. He doesn’t have much reason to suspect anything too far out of the ordinary when he heads down to University College Hospital on a hunch to visit the man who may or may not be dead.
The man’s name is Jonathan Sims: a failed academic by all accounts, though what he’d been doing before the explosion that threw him into a six month coma is at the mercy of baseless public speculation. Now he’s lying in an empty ward with no heartbeat, dreaming.
It seems like enough to fill a slow news day.
A Victorian AU. Herein lies artistic licence, ghosts, and the slowest burn you ever did see.

Summary
A lot of high schoolers are required to read The Great Gatsby in school and a lot of high schoolers can all obviously see the sexual tension between Gatsby and Nick.
This is a modern retelling of the story but with a few changes that seem to better fit it in the setting of the 21st century.
It's also pretty obvious, if you read the notes, that I did not enjoy reading TGG in school.
