    Summary

After the SQUIP Incident, Jeremy was forgiven. He should have been fine, his life had been balanced out. He had new friends, he regained his best friend, his dad was trying, he was doing well in school. Everything was okay. Everything was good.

Jeremy didn't deserve it. Jeremy wished he was dead.

Jeremy sighed. He was so tired. "Sure I didn't tell it to pull the trigger but I practically handed it the fucking gun. And you can't blame a computer for following its programming but you can blame me for fucking taking it in the first place. For not listening to you that night because I was so deluded into thinking that it was helping me. For not seeing anything wrong with how it was treating me when every threat and every shock and every suggestion to end my life became normal and expected."

    Summary

It took two weeks for someone to finally take action and address the gray, oblong ghost of an elephant in the room. Jenna, who was usually the least invested in their lunchtime conversations, slammed her phone down on the lunch table and broke the tense silence that had befallen the SQUIP Squad.

“Alright, that’s it,” she snapped. “Who has at least heard from him since he got out of the hospital?”

Rich's phone exploded with the MLG air horn sound effect. He and Jenna high-fived, laughing so hard that they almost fell from the bed. Michael laughed along with them, his laughter growing more violent with each blare of the air horn.

Jeremy could barely get a full sentence out, each verb and noun and adjective about how horrible he was punctuated with a trashy meme.

A faint smile tugged at his lips, and Michael considered that a victory.

A truly incredible Hunger Games AU. Spoilers ahead!
Some notable changes that I adored:
    1. The double faced coin token that passed from Les to Davey and back
    2. How Davey got a 10 score for simply mouthing off to the game makers (and just his internal rebellious thoughts throughout)
    3. Miss Medas outfit & the Newsboys of Manhattan
    4. The arena - very unique setting and I liked how elements of the games were changed to match the narrative (the crumbling buildings, the acid gas, the bulls)
    5. The culture of the districts - Daveys tribute to Smalls made me cry even though I knew it was coming
    6. The sponsorship from "K"
    7. The very real trauma that both boys faced and how Jack lost his skill in art when he lost his hand.

    Summary

Dick grew up watching Bruce take countless woman to bed for the sake of the mission, and to get what he needed from different people. He watched, and he learned.

And maybe he doesn't feel the same things the people around him feel, maybe he doesn't really like sex, but it doesn't really matter. Because if sex makes people happy, then why does his opinion on everything matter? It's not their fault he's broken.

It is what it is. It's just sex. He even likes intimacy, so what's the big deal. It's just sex. If it makes other people happy, if it gets the mission done efficiently, then he can handle it.

He's supposed to do it. Supposed to want it. So he'll do it.

Dick Grayson has never been ashamed of his heritage, despite the comments he's used to receiving.

Luckily for him, the members of his family are disinclined to put up with racist bullshit.

Exaggerated understanding dawns on Damian's expression. "Oh, you mean that Dick is Romani!"

    Andrea blinks again. "I'm sorry?"

"That's what you mean when you call Dick's mother—and, by extension, himself—a gypsy; that's a slur for the Romani people. That's what you meant, right? When you were saying how relieved he must be to have escaped his heritage, which only happened because his parents were murdered."

Andrea stares, absolutely speechless. Dick can't say he's doing much better.
