Summary

Summary

A month has almost passed since the battle over Thedas II. When Mariner receives a pair of all-inclusive tickets to a luxury oceanfront resort on Risa, she knows immediately who her plus one will be.
But this unexpected gift brings with it a dilemma for the junior grade lieutenant; the fear she’s moving things too fast for Boimler. It will fall to him to reassure her he’s fine pretty much wherever, whenever, and whatever, as long as it’s all with her.

Summary
In the aftermath of an awkward situation Mariner put both herself and Boimler into for a dare while on shore leave, the two are paired together on a supply run to a new Starfleet science outpost. Things soon turn sideways on the return trip, and the junior lieutenants subsequently find themselves caught between battle lines in a conflict on an unfamiliar world that most definitely wasn’t in the mission briefing.
The conflict has its roots in another that Mariner remembers all too well, and consequently she is forced to confront her demons with Boimler at her side. In so doing her closest companion will come to understand a great deal more about the dynamics of their relationship and her as well.
The past has a way of catching up with the present.
