The first time he’d done it was long before the bite. Young, too young. He was too young for this, it was something his aunt had said when she first found out. Desperate, broken eyes, weakness is what she saw.
He’s seen that desperation multiple times throughout his life, when they realized he wasn’t doing as good as they’d thought. It all looked the same. Concern, Fear, Denial, Confusion.
Only once, it looked different. In his eyes.
The way Tony had looked at him was raw. Something he’d recognized as familiarity. A scared father, it almost reminded him of the way Ben had looked at him in the store. Almost.

Sure. In retrospect he was being a bit dramatic, and maybe scaring everyone in the tower over someone eating his leftovers wasn’t the smartest thing to do. But as J. Jonah. Jameson said on the daily, Spider-Man was a menace. And Peter Parker was a food aggressive bitch who holds a grudge.

No one thinks that Peter’s injuries leave scars. He wasn’t sure where the idea came from, but he remembers the day he finally figured out what everyone thought was common knowledge. It was after a mission where he and the other Avengers were in the quinjet heading back to the Avengers tower when it was brought up. He was propped up against the wall, sitting on one of the far too comfortable benches.
Steve was inspecting a gash on his arm as Natasha stitched it up for him, turning his attention to Peter. “Hey at least this won’t leave a mark,” he joked.
Peter’s brows knitted in confusion. “You don’t get scars?” he asked.
Or, Everyone thinks that Peter doesn't get scars anymore because of his enhanced metabolism. Peter starts playing into the narrative.
