The texture of my entire tablet shifts as the video plays.
It is a recording of the very room we are in. The angle shows the room from above, looking over the beds. In each bed, I can make out the general shape of a human covered by something. Three in total.
I wait for something to happen. Why is there a recording of the crew in their comas?

Just as Grace tuned and headed to the dormitory, his foot banged into the nearest set of drawers. He let out a high-pitched yelp at the pain that shot through him.
Worse, embarrassment shot through him. He had let the sound escape him in his surprise.
Rocky startled at the noises. "Grace is okay, question?"

Summary
Hob Gadling had worked as a professor in London for some years. It had always been the same routine each semester, each day. Every day he returns to the same flat, the same deafening silence.
After several years at the university, Hob meets a strange colleague. Something feels familiar about him, but it is impossible that they know each other. Hob would have remembered the mysterious and shut-off stranger had they met before. He would know of he had run into the same emotional walls before as he tried to strike up a conversation with the entirely disinterested man.
Nevertheless, they cannot avoid one another as they continuously meet on campus. Neither can Hob deny that this stranger looks quite appealing from some angles. -

When Rocky wakes up after Adrian, he's relieved they're both alive, but immediately knows that something is off with Grace. He's having trouble breathing, sleeping a lot, and spiking fevers. As much as Grace wants to blame it on lung irritation from the ammonia in Rocky's atmosphere, Rocky knows he's downplaying it, and it's not going to work.
However, before he can actually do anything about it, the ship's power goes out. Taumoeba have gotten into the fuel and eaten all the astrophage, leaving them with no choice but to steal from the beetles.
Which are on the outside of the ship.
Which means two EVAs and a lot of lab work for Grace, all while his condition declines from what's quickly turning into a serious health problem. All Rocky can do is make sure he has what he needs and try to take care of him as best he can from afar, hoping they can get to safety before Grace's health is too fragile to recover.Bookmarked by Cntrlaltdelete

“Ouchhh.” I moan, still holding my belly, “Whyyyy?”
The familiar clunky sound of Rocky’s footsteps in his xenonite suit grows steadily nearer as he scuttles over. I must’ve alerted him with my griping and groaning. So much for not being a bother.
He stops near the foot of my bed.
“Rocky heard Grace make noise.”
“Sorry about that,” I say, voice muffled.
“No apology, Grace.” He scolds, “Am worried, not bothered. What is wrong, question?”
“My tummy hurts.” I say matter-of-factly into my pillow, “And I’m being a big baby about it.”//
Grace hasn’t had someone to take care of him when he’s sick in a long, long while. Having forgotten that he’s lactose intolerant, he’s now battling an upset stomach, which Rocky is determined to soothe. Grace finds that Rocky’s help may be exactly what he needed.

Summary
Sleeping is so much easier with Rocky around. Well… maybe not necessarily easier, but… better?
Before I met Rocky, I mostly just felt too awful all the time to get much rest. And after we parted ways, the nightmares that had been taunting me on and off started coming with a vengeance. The nightmares aren't gone now, of course. But it's better.
