A green bath with a mortician window; a lady is facing away fom the viewer, naked except for a cloth slug low around her hips. Perhaps she'll enter the bath, perhaps she's just an attendant, preparing the room for a future bather.

  1. Summary

Mostly canon-compliant stories about Chancellor Ake of Starfleet Academy and Chancellor Kelrec of the Federation War College as they go from antagonistic co-workers through an odd situation-ship and emerge at something that might just be love.

Or: the one where Nahla Ake stole Zeeren Kelrec's tablecloth and his heart.

    Summary

Mara Jade had rehearsed this conversation the entire trip back from the Outer Rim. Depending on what she found, there had been several possible versions.

Version one: drag him out of whatever dark side insanity he’d gotten himself into. Version two: if that failed, put him down before he became another Vader. Version three — the one she hated enough not to examine too closely — discover she was too late.

Instead she arrived back in known space to the impossible news that Skywalker had apparently ... fixed it himself.

And he'd brought back a souvenir for her.

    Souvenirs by vader_incarnate
    85757136

Mara talks to Luke (and is prepared to do more, if needed) after Dark Empire/he knelt to the emperor reborn. He interrupts her with a souvenir (a.k.a. "unforeseen acts of decency")

“You went to the Emperor,” she said. “Do not interrupt me to argue about the wording. I am not interested. You went to him, and at some point in this catastrophe you apparently decided you could manage the situation.”

Luke’s shoulders shifted, a small tightening that on anyone else she might have missed. “Mara — ”

“No.” Her voice stayed level but only through stubbornness. “I just got back from dealing with one Jedi who thought he could walk into darkness and stay in charge of the experience. That did not inspire confidence.”

    Worth the Work by SophCat
    85711276

Spot-on perfect Jett Reno voice as she press-gangs Caleb into repairing an unrepairable shuttle. Told from Caleb’s POV as he has a terrible, horrible, no-good very-bad day.

Also, in case I forget, the origin of “no shit, Surak.”

He sees the way she tries to care about what matters to him. And there’s no reason why finer details like the chain of command should mean anything to her. She’s still not really down with the whole Starfleet thing. For years, Caleb lived a life she would have recognized, while they were so profoundly separated that they might as well have been in different universes. Now they can talk whenever they want — and his world is so alien to her that he can’t even tell her about his day.

I love this for it's perspective on 32nd century San Francisco. And because Jay-Den and Kyle are good to and sweet on each other in it.

Kyle deliberately steers them down the slower side streets to make it easier, aiming for things Jay-Den might like—they even pass a Klingon restaurant, and Jay-Den tightly nods when Kyle suggests they come back for dinner. They spend a long time in a bookstore, surrounded by traditional paper-bound stories still published in the ancient style as opposed to shiny screens. Jay-Den runs his long fingers down a withered spine, flips through brittle yellowed pages, and mutters, “How... tactile.” At Kyle’s encouraging smile, he adds, “A strangely gratifying experience.”

    Comparative Theology by AstroGirl
    20179534

A crossover between Good Omens (more on the book side) and the Good Place, with footnotes as all Good Omens fic should have.

"What," says the demon, "is a Good Place fartknuckle doing in my office building? Don't you have a committee to form, or some of your own boogers to eat or something?"

Well, all right, he thinks, ignoring the more confusing parts of this conversational opening. Perhaps not, then.

"Ah, yes," he says. "I, er..." Why would an unfallen angel descend into Hell? To his knowledge, it has only happened once. That was several months ago, admittedly, but then Heaven and Hell have never had a particularly keen sense of the passage of time, not like those who live by human clocks on Earth. He seizes on the thought. "I, ah, came with Michael." He smiles. He hopes it looks more convincing than it feels. "But we appear to have got separated. If you could, perhaps, just point me to the exit?"

The demon snorts. "Michael? That colossal dweeb? Well, it figures. You've both got equally stupid faces."

Masculine Women, Feminine Men [Fanvid] by Tafadhali
    29785647

A video of 1920's and 30's film clips set to a banger of a song: "Masculine Women, Feminine Men." Second Chapter is an in-depth analysis of the cinema of the time, the song, citation of clips used, and acknowledgement that some of this is and was intended to be homophobic (in the 1930's? shocker.) But it's put together well and with such fun and love, that it's hard not to have fun watching it.
