They bicker about what colour Eddie should paint his kitchen - “Eddie, you wanna go with something warm to make it inviting,” Buck had insisted, cackling triumphantly when Lily had agreed with him. They reminisce about calls they attended - “okay but you have to admit that Ravi fucked that one up, right? I asked for gauze and he handed me an IV bag,” Buck had sneered, wholly offended by Eddie reminding him that Ravi had been terrified of him after the ‘chainsaw incident’.

Harris: It’s called 36 Questions That Lead to Love. They’re questions that a psychologist developed back in the nineties that are supposed to help couples move past the awkward stage and get more personal. It’ll be fun!
Shane: You always say that it’ll be fun, and I don’t think it ever ends up being much fun.
Ilya: I always have fun. I do not know what your problem is.
[Harris lets out his signature booming laugh, and Ilya grins widely.]
Harris: You maybe have a little too much fun.
Ilya: There is no such thing.
Shane: But what’s the point of the questions if we’re already in love? Like, we’re married. You were there when it happened.
Harris: Yes, but they can help you deepen your connection, and it makes for good content. People love your love.
Ilya: I think we had a pretty deep connection last night, am I right?
[Ilya holds his hand up for a high-five from Shane, but Shane only glares, and Harris looks slightly horrified. Ilya looks back expectantly, but when Shane doesn’t move, Ilya high-fives himself. With the sound of the clap, the screen goes black.]

Robby stared down at the still-sleeping baby. "I have a lot of things to see," he said, almost to himself, a double layer to that, one that Jack found oddly heartening.
"And people to love," he said, taking a flier on it because why the fuck not.

Robby follows him as Jack starts working on the coffee, taking a seat at the peninsula that divides the kitchen from the rest of the apartment.
“You still like it burned or have you gotten better taste since last time?” he teases, throwing a quick glance at Robby, who makes a face at him.
They don’t do this often, crashing at each others’ places. Jack honestly can’t remember when exactly that last time was. Close to a year, he thinks, a Pirates game with a rain delay that then went into extra innings. It’s not that they don’t hang out when their schedules allow for it, it’s just that there’s always been more of a distance in their relationship outside work, like somehow the halls (and roof) of PTMC allow for more vulnerability than the halls of their own homes.
“At this point I'll take whatever you give me and I'll like it,” Robby says, definitely with a grimace this time.

I hadn’t really kissed anyone before.” He takes an orange bell pepper from the bag his mom brought over and brings it over to the counter. “Not anyone I really wanted to kiss anyway.” He cuts the top and bottom off the pepper and then works on cutting out the seeds. “Ilya’s a good kisser,” he adds. And he can’t believe he’s just said that out loud to his mom.
