“Maman?” a young Enjolras asks, tugging on the sleeve of his mother’s dress to get her attention. He gazes down at the stage, void of the dancers that previously occupied it. “Where did Papa go?”
The corner of his mother’s mouth pinches as she reaches out to tuck a loose strand of golden hair behind his ear. “It’s none of your concern, darling. He has business to attend to, so let’s go home first, alright?”
Enjolras wants to question further. He wants to know why his father never comes home with them after seeing a ballet at the Palais Garnier, why his mother always looks disappointed when he asks after his father.

The sole color he could see, designed to guide him to his soulmate and differing between individuals, had led him one spring morning to a beautiful young man wearing a jacket the exact shade of scarlet he had alway seen, and he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he had found his soulmate.

Grantaire thinks that Enjolras is the most incredible and dedicated person that he has ever met; he's honest, bold and strong in his passions. But it soon becomes apparent that other people - particularly their teachers at their boarding school - do not feel the same way about him and his quirks.
While watching Enjolras struggle in class one day, Grantaire starts to wonder if Enjolras may be on the Autism Spectrum.
In his venture to support Enjolras through the ableism and unfair treatment, he learns more about the man that he loves more than anything - despite Combeferre and Courfeyrac warning him to stay away from their friend. He finds that they repeatedly ignore Enjolras' cries for help and decides to do what he can to support him through this.
