Summary
There are two faces to everyone, like there are two sides to every coin. One is the true face of the person, and the other is the mask that they wear for others to see. Most people don't think about the masks that they slide into place, or the lies they tell to keep those masks up and keep people blind to what lies below.
Over time, as the mask is worn more and more and more until the person behind it is so hardly seen that they're narrowly forgotten, it begs the question- which is the real person, and which is the mask?

Summary
A mercenary. The "Ashen Demon", known for cutting through enemies with a blank expression all the while on her face. An emotionless child only a father can love.
Then she finds herself within the walls of Garreg Mach Monastery, surrounded by cheerful faces and earnest voices. Ones that spark a warmth in her chest, spreading from the inside out.
Time is lost, and now she's in the midst of a war. Innocence is scarce and the years have chipped away at the soft shells of those she has come to understand as 'friends'.
Through it all, there is a lone smile. A bright one with all the radiance of the sun. It's a smile which makes her think that one day, she'll know what it feels like to have a heart that beats.
