On a regular day at his favorite coffee shop he hears the most beautiful voice to ever fall upon his ears and he falls in love instantly. Summary
"A sour taste of bile crawled up Yoshiki’s throat. He could not bring himself to open his mouth, not even to draw breath, terrified that he would be sick. A deep sense of unreality settled over him. This did not feel like his own body or his own life. It felt like he was watching from a distance as another person's world fell to pieces.
This wasn't supposed to happen. It wasn't supposed to end like this, not after they had come this far. He couldn't bear it alone.
Yoshiki’s trembling hand stroked Hikaru’s face in a twisted, desperate caress. He whispers, his voice raw as if his throat had been torn to shreds: "I'll fix this, okay? Everything will be alright. It'll pass."
He clutches Hikaru's corpse and wraps his arms around it, as if the embrace could absolve him of his sins.
"I'll take it all away."
- Yoshiki and Hikaru are two young scientists in the mid-1850s, dedicated to an impossible project: bringing life from death. It doesn't go as planned.

She could feel him there—His warmth, his restraint, the way he was holding himself back like it physically hurt. His heart was loud in the only way she could perceive it, fast and unsteady, pulling towards her despite everything.
Then she stepped back, aware now of the scattered presence around them—her students, the faint, curious thrum of their hearts.
“For the old times,” The earthbender said quietly, “I hope you’re able to keep it together and say nothing to the others. Remember that, before anything else… we’re friends.”“I remember.”
___When the Avatar sends him a letter asking for his help, he’s just excited to see his longtime friends again, having no idea that his future would be decided the moment he lays eyes on a certain earthbender.

Summary
Suddenly, his hand presses down on something large and pillowy. Hikaru curls in on himself and chokes out a gasp of air. Then he laughs, and Yoshiki feels it against his hand.
“What was—”
“Stop punchin’ the air outta my lungs!” Hikaru wheezes out. “Feels really funny.”
Yoshiki recoils. “Yer lu—you’re just playin’ with me, right?”
Hikaru grabs onto his hand, preventing him from pulling out further. “Not joking. You can probably squeeze the air right outta me.”
This sends a chill down Yoshiki's spine.
Hikaru tugs on his arm, urging him forward until his knuckles brush against it again. The lung. “Just be gentle,” Hikaru says. “I don't mind ya touchin' it.”
Hikaru wants to keep testing Yoshiki's ability to resist impurities. Yoshiki is interested in learning the intricacies of Hikaru's insides.

Summary
The two of them sit in silence for a long time. Hikaru doesn't mind the silence. He hopes Yoshiki doesn't mind it too. Sometimes it's nice to just focus on other things, like the softness of Yoshiki's skin against his, the feel of his ribcage, or the gentle push and pull against him when he inhales or exhales. He likes the way the water moves with even the smallest movement from either of them. He likes that they both smell the same, like cedar and lavender. He likes how it feels almost as though they're connected, even if Hikaru's not reaching inside of him.
He loves this. He loves Yoshiki. He doesn't think it's embarrassing at all.
(Or, the wig ghost slips through the wall, getting away, but not before attaching to Yoshiki and making him too weak to move. Hikaru takes care of him, then finishes off the ghost, and the two have lots of discussions about bodies and the way they react to things. Hikaru doesn't fully understand)
