Summary
Simon waited.
Waited for them to apologize. Tell him there’s nothing they could do. That he wasn’t worth the trouble or resources, that he wasn’t worth the time.
But that never came.
Instead, after a second Grace came back on the line, his voice sounding determined now. “Alright,” he said. “Hang tight.”
Simon blinked slowly. “What?”

Love the deep dives into the world building and the contrasts between Simon’s upbringing vs Grace. Very well written

Summary
An Eridian mining crew find a human welded into a stranded ship on the surface of a moon. They bring him back to Erid, to the only other human they know.
Something in Grace's chest flickered into life. He had buried it so long ago that he hardly knew what it was anymore, and so he took off his glasses and cleaned them on the edge of his cardigan, as if Rocky's words were a smudge he could clear away before finding the will to hope.
“Ah…” his words failed halfway out of his mouth. Rocky chittered at him, a little sound of encouragement. “There’s another human? Here. And… alive?”

Summary
Rozanov cocked his head. “You speak Russian? Or just the curse words?”
“Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”
+++
Despite an inauspicious start, when Russia’s Ilya Rozanov learns that Canada’s Shane Hollander is fluent in Russian at their first World Junior Championships tournament, it changes everything and sets them on a different course. Instead of being branded as rivals from the very beginning, Ilya and Shane start off as friends.
And, after all, a little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone, did it?

Bookmarker's Notes
Great AU with an interesting take on the slight shift in dynamic/character expression through language. Felt very in-character. Wonderful dialogue and an overall fun read.

Summary
“Who—” Roy cuts off as the man turns to him.
He’s the spitting image of Ed, if Ed was about a decade older. But Ed and Al are the only ones of them left, the only ones with the dark skin and distinctly golden hair and eyes marking their Xerxesian descent.
The stranger stares at him, crumbs falling from his mouth to the table. “Oh. Hey.”
“I—”
“Don’t freak out,” he says, “but I’m Edward Elric.”

Summary
“So allow me to just reiterate one more time,” Yoshida says, swishing around the last few dregs of his bottle of Coke. The two of them are sitting in the cafeteria, all the way in the back right up against the wall, and the cacophony of the lunch rush swells around them. “You want to write someone a love letter? Like, on the pink paper with the red hearts all lovey-dovey?”
Denji groans and tips his head back. “Nah, dude,” he says. “It’s not a love letter. That makes it sound all girly and shit.” He pops a fry into his mouth, speaking around it. “Let’s call it a letter of appreciation. To let this person know that I… care about them.”
“Sounds exactly like a love letter.”
Denji and Yoshida strike up an unlikely friendship, passing notes back and forth in class. Eventually, the notes change from light-hearted and friendly to something more serious... and maybe just a little bit romantic?
