Harriet Potter was used to being underestimated.
She had spent the first eleven years of her life pretending to be average, letting the world assume she was nothing special. The Dursleys, in their ignorance, had made it clear that she was not allowed to be better than Dudley—so she wasn’t. At school, she held back, only answering questions when absolutely necessary. She got decent, but not exceptional, grades. She let teachers think she was a quiet, forgettable girl with nothing extraordinary about her.
That was their mistake.
The truth was, Harri had learned long ago that intelligence was best used in secret. When no one was watching, she devoured books on math, science, and engineering—anything she could get her hands on. She built small gadgets out of discarded junk, experimented with electronics, and even managed to fix the neighbor’s broken radio when she was eight. The Dursleys never noticed.
Then, one day, a letter arrived, and her world changed forever.
Magic was real.
And if magic was real, then maybe—just maybe—she could finally stop pretending.

Summary
At the age of nineteen, Lily Potter creates her will. Within her will contains a clause concerning the care of her son, Harry James Potter, in the event that James and her are deceased or incapacitated. Three people are listed and those three people are made aware of this, taking an unbreakable vow as a testament to their commitment.
When Severus Snape takes the vow, he does not ever imagine that he will have to fulfill it. His name is merely there for decoration, he thought. However, his thoughts turn up to be nothing but ignorant wishing as Severus found himself in the next year and a half with one Harry Potter. The last resort has turned into the only choice and at twenty-one, Severus knew next to nothing on how to parent a child. He had never planned to have kids but now he must fulfill a vow and try not to think about the fact that the child in his hands looks too little like Lily and too much like James.
In which Severus Snape defects from Voldemort earlier and Lily sees something in him to give out one last chance.
