Hermes tries to hide the sadness that comes with his son trying to run away from him again. It’s like getting punched in the gut over and over again, despite his efforts to make this a welcoming environment for his baby, he rejects him.
Hermes knew this would take time. He understands that Luke needs time to feel safe around him. But he wished that his son would understand the pain he felt when he was forced to watch but never allowed to interact.The powerlessness that comes with it all. Until Hermes was able to steal Luke's soul before it went onto it's journey through the underworld.
He got his baby back, but he hates him, it might be the price to pay for the feat he pulled when Luke died.Series

Paul used to think all the time about Sally and Poseidon’s relationship after she told him. It was a strange thing for Paul, after all, in all his previous relationships, the ex she told him to never worry about wasn’t the king of the ocean, whom she had a kid with. A very powerful and accomplished kid who was now a seven-year-old, who has no idea of the power that he has, or knows that he uses to regularly beat up gods before breakfast. Now, standing here on this cold beach, still grappling with the fact that he’s twenty-five again, he can’t help but compare Sally and Poseidon for what is probably the hundredth time. If Poseidon was the ocean, Sally was the Titanic, beautiful, elegant, and quite in its strength and integrity, but even though the Titanic might have been the strongest ship of its time, it was just another ship that the ocean sank.
And standing right here in the past, facing the father of monsters like this, that couldn’t be clearer to him.

Two worlds. In both Kronos used his last seconds of freedom to curse his children.
In one world Kronos cursed his children with infertility. All their kids would be born still and breathless, or twisted and monstrous with few exceptions. Broken.
In another world Kronos cursed his children to be unable to feel love. To be as cruel and selfish as they accused him of being. Heartless.

Luke lost Percy. lost him in life when the boy didn't join his side, lost him more in each fight they had. he knew Percy had a right to be angry at him, but he was so consumed in his anger to see that his godly family didn't matter, the one he already had had was enough and he lost that too. now, back from the dead and head clear, he is ready to make amends and earn Percy's trust, attention. even if he has to fight through hell to get it, and an angry sun god

He feels something sink in his chest, seeing absolute confirmation that children are being hunted by monsters in the other world. Just as he braces himself to fight and protect the children behind him, the vortex closes right as the cyclops reaches it. The last thing they hear is an aggravated roar of a monster not being able to feast as it wanted to.
