Numbers of gleaming-eyed brutes in the corridors, strutting because they owned the place. Numbers of people brought before the Muggleborn Registration Commission, only to disappear later. Numbers of Muggleborn accounts being drained into those bearing the names of Yaxley, Lestrange, Rookwood, Umbridge, Dolohov, Carrow, Selwyn, Goyle, and more.

After the murder of Minister Rufus Scrimgeour, the Ministry of Magic becomes a sinister place. Office worker Audrey Edgecombe does what she can to carry on and chip away at the evil, but can only watch as things get worse and worse. Purpose loses its shine and magic its luster, but she keeps chipping anyway. And perhaps, just maybe, it's not just her doing the chipping.

All during a tournament he was forced into and consequently vilified for by his peers and Britain’s wizarding world.
Harry needed to be somewhere where he could be sad and angry and scared and not alone and safe.
Where was safer than Hogwarts?

Twelve year-old Harry took a pinch of the proffered floo powder from Mrs. Weasley’s flower pot, dropped it into the Burrow’s empty fireplace, choked on a breathful of hot ash, and stuttered out, “D-Dia-gon Alley.”
The Floo Network, being invented by wizards and therefore following a system that was a good sight more whimsical than it was logical, did not dump poor Harry out one grate too far, in Knockturn Alley. Instead, Harry tumbled out of a different hearth, still coughing on soot, and found himself on the floor of the Dragon Valley pub. Before he could even get his bearings, a strangled voice from over to his left called out, “James?”

The cold voltaic shock through his nerves was the sting of cold air damp with spray from the sea, the pressure of electrical charge the weight of armour on his shoulders, the harsh blue-white glow of lightning the grey-white-blue of sea and ice and sky.
…His scalp was cold.
Zuko doesn't know why he's suddenly back here again, here on his ship amongst the icebergs, with the Avatar's light stabbing into the sky. He's not even sure this is real. But if it is, he's going to do things better this time.
Of course, things go off the rails almost immediately.
