I could have been killed so many times. I put them in danger so much. What have I done? What did I do? Gasping, he curled around himself as best as possible. He could hear Etho talking. Somewhere, something was ringing. Was that his own ears? What had happened? Had he taken a hit to the head?
“Grian!” A bloody hand rested on his cheek. Jolting, Grian slammed his head into the ceiling above him. Or, he almost did, really. Instead of hitting his head on rock, he hit his head against Etho’s palm. Blinking past the panic, he looked at his dad. Etho took a dramatic breath. Copying him, Grian just—watched him. “It’s going to be fine.”
“What do you mean it’s going to be fine? I’m pregnant and we’re—” I’ve been Cute Guy-ing it up while pregnant. I could have killed them. I could have killed my and Scar’s baby. “What have I done?”

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”
