Summary
Laudna walks hand in hand alongside Imogen, as she always does, nowadays. The cold breeze tosses her worn black skirts and her hand-sewn black shawl about her, and she involuntarily shivers a little. The fact that she has a reaction of any sort, even after a few years separated from their grand adventures with the rest of Bell’s Hells, is a marvel she’ll never get used to. She gazes up at the clouds looming above them growing darker as a storm from the mountains blows in. Despite it, though, they’re not hurrying their stride to get back home any faster. It would never do to rush one of their walks, Laudna thinks as she closes her eyes, taking a deep breath of the crisp air.

I’d always thought I’d take more after my father; I’ve always been more like him, personality-wise. But looks—if I had another ten years, maybe, then. . . Sorry, you were—you wanted to relax?”
“I want you to relax,” Sciel said, taking the out gratefully, “though this is starting off suspiciously like it did when we were seventeen.”
Lune’s laugh seemed to startle even her. Sciel soaked up the sound, let it wash away her foul mood. “Do you want it to happen like it did when we were seventeen? I seem to remember how off-balance we both were.”
“I could think of a few better ways to handle you,” Sciel offered, resting a hand on Lune’s thigh, “if you let me.”

Due to Laudna’s strength, Imogen did a lot of the heavy lifting throughout the day. While she does understand and it isn’t Laudna’s fault, Imogen still wishes that she didn’t have to do as much of it. She can barely lift her arms past chest-height, now, as she tries to pull their shared blanket over their legs.

Her skin was warm and smooth, a deep brown that seemed to catch and hold the light. Long, dark hair cascaded down her back in loose waves, thick and glossy. Gold earrings swayed with her movements, catching Azula's eye as she tilted her head to laugh at something someone had said.
And then there were her eyes.
They were an impossible shade of blue, bright and clear even in the dim bar. Azula found herself held captive by them, something unreadable flickering beneath the surface. There was a sharpness there, a quiet challenge. A woman who didn’t just exist in a space—she commanded it.
