Author's Note: Inspired by theories that Vi had a prison wife. I couldn't let go of the idea. I realized how awful it would be if that were true. To be left behind, and replaced with someone like Caitlyn.

Summary
Death has never spared anyone, not even the woman she loved. Bound by broken promises and shared pain, Rio pursues Agatha with vengeance in her heart and a reaping long overdue. But the years weigh heavy, pulling Rio between duty and the ghost of the love she once shared with a witch who could only see her as a monster. In the end, Death is left with nothing but a hollow victory—for at the end of all roads, there is only her, alone.
No one gets what they want. This is a canon-compliant short fiction that explains Agatha's and Rio's backstory, filling in the missing pieces from the TV series. It doesn't make anything better, but at least we can understand our antiheroes' motivations and suffering.
