Summary
Helena flees one dystopian war and wakes in another realm.
Westeros has no place for her: pale-haired, foreign-tongued, nameless, unclaimed, and impossible to explain. In the wrong hands, she could become rumor or weapon. In other hands, a problem solved before anyone thinks to ask whether she wanted saving.
Prince Maekar Targaryen intends to control the danger before it spreads.
Helena knows what control can become. Tragically knows how easily protection can turn into a locked door, a decided path, a hand closing where permission was never given. She has survived too much to mistake command for kindness.
Maekar knows danger differently. To him, safety is structure, vigilance, order. The firm hand placed between threat and what must not be lost.
Neither is wrong.
Together, they are ruinous. But his children trust her, his household bends around her, and somewhere between suspicion and restraint, Helena becomes more than the danger Maekar meant to contain—and Maekar becomes more than the man Helena meant to survive.
Between them grows a slow, dangerous tenderness. A love built not from ease, but from the painful work of learning where care ends and possession begins.

Summary
Sunshine “Sunnie” Gibson came to Columbia to become a writer, not to get tangled up with the Targaryens.
A student journalist from Clifton, Cincinnati, Sunnie knows how to ask difficult questions. That is what first catches Maekar Targaryen’s attention in a political economy class, and what later draws her into the orbit of his older brother, Baelor, the polished public face of Targaryen Maritime Group.
The Targaryens are old money, old rules, and older secrets — a foreign-descended family whose ideas about loyalty, love, bloodline, and possession do not fit neatly inside ordinary American manners. To Sunnie, wanting two brothers should mean scandal, betrayal, and heartbreak. To Baelor and Maekar, it may be dangerous, but it is not impossible.
In New York at the edge of the millennium, between dorm phones, student newspapers, corporate power, family pressure, and a city about to change forever, Sunnie has to learn which lines are warnings, which are invitations, and which ones were never ordinary to begin with.
