What if your grandfather’s disgusting cooking forces you to find common ground with your obnoxious cousin, though? Is that enough to change unpleasant history? Maybe to start caring about each other? Shortly after their thirteenth birthdays, first Gwen, then Ben had Hanahaki surgery. As expected, they stopped coughing up flowers, and they both lost whatever romantic longings they had that brought on the disease.
Gwen still has memories of her feelings from before, though, and because they didn’t tell each other what they were going through, they never really knew why the other caught the disease.
The doctors said it would never happen again.
Inspired by the Miss_Nihilist story on AO3, i am disappointed by my hands, and their willingness to let go
