    Summary

“Wow, this is so… And what happened to those soldiers? Eridians from frontlines? I gather they had some sort of severe case of PTSD then.”

    “They died.”

    “I beg your pardon?”

    This.

This is clearly some mistake in the translation. Has to be.

On a long jorney to Erid Grace and Rocky decide to deal with traumatic nature of Eridian's experience in space. They do it with talks, singing, gossiping and dancing.

I just thought there is a lot of works about Rocky helping Grace to deal with heavy emotional stuff, there should be one where Grace supports his friend also!

    Summary

I very carefully set the gun near the xenonite barrier. “Need a word. Fast moving projectile launcher. This is an object that can make small objects go very fast.”

Rocky gets close to the barrier and seems to be inspecting it with his sonar. “Unfamiliar with concept. How fast can objects move with launcher, question?”

“An object is made for the launcher. Cannot be any object. We call objects ‘bullets.’ We call launcher ‘gun.’ It uses gunpowder to make a small explosion, which is powder made from sulfur, potassium nitrate, and charcoal- Carbon. In high oxygen environments this creates a small explosion that propels the bullet forward at 100 meters a second.”

Rocky scurries back. I would too, but I have the business end facing away from me and the xenonite barrier. “Are objects in this launcher, question?”

“Yes, I do not know how to take them out.” I point to the end of the gun that houses the bullets. “In Earth’s atmosphere, they would be safe to remove. But in a high oxygen environment like the Hail Mary, I’m afraid of causing a spark that would make the bullets fire anyway.”

    Summary

Ryland Grace was only human, but his spirit would not be subdued not even for death itself. Thanks to Rocky, Erid would soon learn the strength of the seemingly frail humans who sent a teacher into space. The duality of man would echo through their thrum haunting even the oldest Eridian. Grace was something new, something unknown, and something potentially dangerous. And Erid would never let him go. They would protect. They would claim. They would meet an indomitable human spirit.

Inspired by the idea of the indomitable human spirit

    Summary

"There's no need to negotiate for your safety, Doctor Grace," Stratt says carefully. "I can assure you, after saving the world, you will be looked after."

"Um, no," he says, shaking his head. "I'm not negotiating for my safety." He steps aside. “I’m negotiating for theirs.”

They step into the light of the open doorway; Simon squinting hard against the vivid sun with his hand raised to shield his eyes, and Rocky, who chirps a casual "Hello, humans!" with a wave.

There’s a gasp; someone takes a step backward; one of the military personnel raises their rifle slightly before Stratt makes a sharp gesture for them to stand down.

Grace doesn’t have eyes for them - he only looks at Stratt.

And he decides, then and there, to replace the image of Stratt’s face sending him to his death, full of remorse and sadness, with the one in front of him: utter, complete disbelief.

Grace thinks he'll treasure it forever.

or: rocky and grace (+simon) go to earth instead of erid
