Summary

Set immediately after chapter 3 of the manga, this fic explores Utena learning of and employing proper BDSM etiquette. That— along with the fact Tres Magia are made aware Baiser is being blackmailed by Vena— redefines her encounters with Tres Magia, defeats now leading to consensual BDSM sessions. Utena also actively works to seduce Tres Magia, hoping to win their love and make them hers.
I can't help but compare this to 'Lines', as they share many ideas. 'Motherly Advice' has a much lighter hearted tone, in line with canon, and at times feels less believable— Utena mastering the art of BDSM and how learning to please women in just a few days, Haruka having BDSM knowledge from the start and Baiser gaining Tres Magia's trust so quickly, stretches plausibility. Still, it remains an enjoyable and engaging read despite those leaps. -

The writing is fairly rough, with quite a few OOC moments and the drama gets resolved too easily. -

It's a fun take on the series. The concept of an 'adorable clumsy villainess nobody can bring themselves to hate' (Utena without Baiser persona) is delightful and I'd love to see more fics exploring the idea.
That said it's quite rough around the edges. The characters feel a bit OOC, everything is heavily Americanized (dialogue, setting, etc) and features very juvenile humor. Though most of it's faults can be overlooked if you treat it as an American AU.
Overall it's still an enjoyable read if you can look past is faults.
