The Lord of the Sea held his head high, regally, unrelenting. His eyes were as dark as the waters surrounding Charybdis and his glance bored into each and every one of them, while his hands rested on his trident.

If you like this kind of story you’re probably desperate enough to check every new one out, if you don’t, I know there is nothing at all I can say to convince you to read this one, and if you don’t know what a reaction fic is and simply start this one out of curiosity , I might be the one to drag you into this rabbit hole.
If that’s the case, I am deeply sorry, and good luck. It’s pretty hard to leave this trope behind once you’re into it.

Contrary to popular belief, Alastor does have Sinners who he considers friends. He can’t express himself in the traditional sense of showing who his friends are, but they know who they are by the small things he does for them without asking for much back or anything at all. He can’t be open about it until a certain Sinner is dealt with and when that Sinner tries to come back into the Hotel after destroying almost all of the Pride Ring…well maybe a history lesson needs to be taught before a new Sinner scream is broadcasted through Hell.

Summary
Inspired by the song “The Ballad of Jane Doe”. A Sinner arrived at the hotel with no idea over who she was, what her mortal life was, or what sins she committed to end up in Hell. The only reason why she arrived at the hotel was because she saw the devastation that happened after Vox’s rally, she saw how badly Alastor was damaged and the flickering of magic to create the illusion that he has two arms instead of one. She saw him and something inside of her just told her that he would have the answers over who she was, what she was like. She didn’t have a chance to even approach him because he disappeared into the shadows with Lucifer.
Everyone knew that he was protecting the hotel so that is where she will start her journey.

Percy was seven the first time he woke screaming, the taste of blood in his mouth and the howling of hounds resounding throughout his head. His mom rushed into his room to cradle him in her arms. When she asked, he bit his tongue, told her only of dogs chasing after him. He didn’t tell her of the boy with the goat legs, the pain of being torn apart, and the warm light that engulfed him at the end. She held him until he fell back asleep. Elsewhere, a young daughter of Zeus made her final stand.
Percy was nine when he opened his eyes, phantom lightning crawling over his skin and the echoes of a woman’s last moments still ringing in his ears. If he closed his eyes, he could still see the twin onyx eyes staring back at him.
When his mother told him the story of his namesake, of Perseus the son of Zeus, he didn't tell her he already knew. Had already seen a mother and her infant set adrift in a raging storm, watched a boy travel far and slay monsters for the sake of his mother’s safety. But he didn’t tell her this. He was young, but he knew already what happened to people like him. People who see.
He was no prophet; he would not suffer their fate. He would bite his tongue and let the prophecies pass him by.

Percy’s always known he was a bit different from the other children. The other children didn’t have sharp teeth or claws. The other children didn’t have scales or gills. The other children weren’t able to detect when someone was coming up behind them by the way their footsteps sounded, even if you were across the street. The other children couldn’t see the future or the past in their dreams or flashes of someone's fate when he looked at them. They weren’t able to hear the sound of someone’s breath from 30 feet away.
But Percy was okay with that. He didn’t need any of the other kids. They stayed away from him even if they couldn’t see his ever-changing eyes that could stare into your soul or his too-long fingers with claws instead of nails. But that was okay, he told himself, he had his Mom, Auntie Bronze, and Apollo, and that was all he needed.
Or,
Percy Jackson is a mischievous little shit with baby seal eyes and a talent for getting gods wrapped around his fingers.

Percy's known he's a demigod for ages after his frenemy/adoptive sister Kelli told him about it, but he's only had one summer at camp. Still, after a year of wandering, he returns to find disaster has struck - Thalia's pine tree has been poisoned and the barrier is failing. With worrying dreams about Grover on top of that, Percy's determined to go on a quest. Luckily, a certain daughter of the War Lord is waiting for one.
If only this dude who killed and served his children as food wasn't here (was it just Percy or was there a worrying amount of child eaters in Greek mythology...?)

Like a rallying cry, campers started pouring out of the woodworks and Jake took a step back.
“Hey,” a tall blond boy yelled, “don’t crowd him! Back up, back up…”
“Oh, come off it, Luke,” a girl rolled her eyes, “you’re only chill because you’re probably going to get the story first!”
“Um,” Jake swallowed, “story?”
Chiron tried his best to shoo the campers away with a disappointed stare, but while a few of them shrank back, most stood firm.
“Yes,” a younger blond girl folded her arms, eyeing him, “we want to know about your encounter with the wandering swordsman.”

There's a demigod out there, somewhere, that no one can find. But because of him (and his really, really shitty swords), demigods who otherwise wouldn't have, have made it to camp. A daughter of Dionysus, a son of Apollo, a daughter of Athena, at least one in every cabin.
Where is he? Who is he?
(Percy thinks everyone's being dramatic. He's not that cool, and Kelli is more than happy to tell him that. Frequently. Ugh.)

But the look on Hermes' face is a heavy combination of what Percy wants to call fear and hope. Trying to think of what a god could possibly feel both of those emotions about makes Percy's stomach twist nervously.

Chapters 1-11 are the main story. Chapter 12 on are bonus chapters that bring me joy. Technically complete, but there may be more bonus chapters as the muse strikes because I love this world.
