The interesting scent seemed to be coming from the somewhat tense looking angel to his right.
Crawley licked his bottom lip, which was an excuse enough for his sensitive tongue to investigate the new development. No doubt, he could feel the warmth emanating from his companion's solid body, damp smell of cloth of his robe, and that complex and intriguing scent carrying messages he was yet to decipher.

Aziraphale lets out that pearly laughter, but, unlike in the previous virgin conversations he had, Crowley’s certain he’s not laughing at him.
It sounds absolutely heart-warming.
“It’s not how it works, you silly satyr,” the amused nymph says. “You don’t end up with two.”
“Will you take mine?”

Summary
They don’t call Aziraphale’s kind dragons for nothing.
Just like the fantasy counterpart, who are said to be able to sense if a coin has been taken or added to their hoard, Aziraphale too owns a sense which has been specifically developed for such a purpose.
And what has just woken him up in the middle of the night is exactly that – a jewel has come under his protection.
And it’s a marvel, this one!
