Summary
Before he became the boy with too many secrets, Harry was fourteen, petty, brilliant, and absolutely convinced that most rules were poorly worded suggestions. When the Triwizard Tournament comes to Hogwarts, and Harry is not chosen, he naturally takes it personally.
A prequel to 'Of Detentions...' and 'Of Overexcited Redheads...'. It can be read on its own, though reading the previous stories first is recommended for more context.

Summary
For Round 2 of the HP-Unleashed fest, trope x trope. This is a slight subversion of the Independent-Harry-Evil-Dumbledore-Conspiracy-Uncovered-Complete-With-Diagon-Alley-Shopping-Trip-And-Molly-Weasley-Bashing fic, insofar as it's all from viewpoints other than Harry's, and Harry's grand discovery that 'everyone has been lying to him about everything' happens off-screen. And no, neither the 'bashing' tags nor the 'is a good friend' tags are errors, just my best attempt at a clash of tropes. Because, really, no thirteen-year-old is an angel of light or a hardened villain, and when they act like the latter, it rather begs the question of what the adults in their lives were doing.

Summary
After finding out Harry still has a father that loves him, he would do anything to keep him alive. Even if that means marrying King Slytherin, known only for his blood lust and cruelty. Throw in a jealous (possible) sister, a mother who couldn't, and a king who wouldn't know kindness if it stabbed him in the heart, and Harry has all the makings of a prince who didn't want to.
