“Ugh,” Fingon says when he wakes up. His head feels both tender and thick, and the brilliant golden Tree-light hurts his eyes. He hasn’t felt so bad after a Gathering of the Fruits since the first time his father deemed him old enough to attend. The miruvórë Yavanna makes with her own fair hands from the honey of the undying flowers in her Garden is only offered at the high festivals, and it’s dangerously light, clear, and sparkling. It’s as easy to get swept away by it as it is to find oneself caught in the jaws of an undertow when swimming in the Bay of Eldamar, carried beyond oneself by a sense of wellbeing and mirth as inexorably as being carried out to sea.
“Ugh,” someone agrees, and Fingon rolls over to find Maedhros in his bed, hair a red-brown tangle like seaweed on the pillow and his usually fair face decidedly pallid.

Summary
They passed out of Lhûn and the wider coastline of Middle-earth opened up before his eyes. He had wandered those shores for centuries, and even now he felt the pull of that same wanderlust, and knew he would miss them for the rest of his life. Their wildness, the untamed waves, the rocky shores and the cliffs and the sandy beaches. The gulls, and the dunes, and the tide pools with their ever-changing denizens. Someone began to sing a song of farewell, and other voices took it up. He did not join them.
Maglor keeps a promise and comes to Valinor, only to find the ghosts he thought he'd left behind are alive and waiting for him.

"Maedhros has nothing to say, less to give. He looks Elwing in the eye, stares right into the face of a catastrophe of his own making. There’s no forgiving or forgetting, but it is only the two of them on that island. Both their lives, collapsed into this yawning whole. Their very existence is now an exercise in the capacity for empathy and identification. On the island, there is only one thing that binds them: she threw herself into the sea, and he threw himself into the earth. The two of them had spat in the face of divinely-gifted eternity, and would have to learn their lesson before Valar and Eldar, flopping fish on a hot-dry-pan."
_______Maedhros Fëanorian is re-embodied onto a desert island in Aman, inhabited solely by Elwing of Doriath, and separated from the mainland by a body of uncrossable water. This, it turns out, is the Valar's judgement - though neither Elwing nor Maedhros take very kindly to being judged.
