“Very well.” Annis looks back to Arthur. “You will have your trial by combat. However,” she says, “I will choose your champion.”
Arthur’s head snaps up. For a moment, he’s clearly uncomfortable, then his expression clears and he squares his shoulders. “As you wish. You have your pick of any one of my men.”
“Him.” Annis’ eyes do not leave Arthur’s. “At noon tomorrow, your servant will fight on behalf of Camelot.”

Aerion tosses another coin on top of the table, grabbing his sword belt to leave. The girl picks it up, glancing at him in confusion, “You already paid me, Milord.”
“To keep your mouth shut.” He mutters, stepping out into the hall without looking at her. The last thing he wanted getting around was that the Dragon Prince was impotent.

"What, did you think I was out whoring in Lys? Or whoring myself in Lys? Tsk. I brought fire back to the world. I am a legend!"
Dunk was mere feet away now, a monolith blocking out the chaos around them.
The dragon rumbled a warning in its throat, a sound like grinding boulders, but Aerion held up a hand to silence the beast.
"Damn you, Duncan!" Aerion yelled. "Hurt me! Scream at me! Just… say something!"
He braced himself for a strike, but Dunk merely cupped his cheek gently.
"You're as beautiful," Dunk whispered, tears finally spilling over, "as the day I last saw you."
Kingsguard Dunk grieved for years, until one day, the mad prince showed up with an unexpected beast. For #dunkaerionweek2026 Day 1 (“ride the dragon”).

Little does he know that since it's the Winter Solstice, his magic is significantly weakened, leaving him with no protection when bandits attack them. Worse, a snowstorm arrives, cutting them away from Camelot and any proper medical equipment.

“Do something. You have to do something. Achilles, please...”
Achilles did not look at Phoenix. He was unable to. He kept his gaze lowered. He looked at his hands. They were huge. Were they his hands? They didn’t look like it.
‘I swear it.’
‘Patroclus leads the march. They’re heading for the walls. Heading to Troy.’
He saw the wooden statue on the floor, at his feet. The boy singing, the lyre in his hands.
‘I swear it.’
“A chariot,” Achilles articulated aloud. Eyes fixed on the statue. “Who has a chariot?”Or: Achilles has a moment of clarity thanks to an old gift from Patroclus and rushes to find him on the battlefield, where the love of his life is pretending to be him, dressed in his armour. Who knows if he will arrive before something tragic occurs...

Summary
After his death, Achilles finds himself in the underworld. Prepared to face his judgement and eternity, he marches into hell, only to learn that Patroclus never arrived. He sets up vigil outside the gates, and waits.
~/~
'Where is he?’ he demanded, his voice breaking against the colossal thrones like a wooden spear against the walls of Troy. The crowd stirred over his shoulder, whispers amongst ghosts, but Achilles paid them no mind.
‘And who do you speak of?’ asked Minos, the barbs of his lashing tongue catching Achilles’s skin, tearing what little remained unmarked. He turned his attention to the last of the judges, and spoke solely to Rhadamanthus.
‘Patroclus.’

Summary
Once, there was a golden hero, blessed by the gods, destined to be remembered for millennia to come. At the hero’s side was another, as close as a shadow and just as impossible to separate. In the end, despite the hero’s promises, neither got the ending they wished for.
This is not that story.
When Achilles vanishes the day after he and Patroclus return to Phthia, Patroclus searches for him desperately, only to learn from Peleus that Achilles has been taken by his mother to the caves beneath the sea, and Patroclus is expected to lead the Myrmidons to Troy in his place. But a strange meeting with a traveller lurking in the shadows of the palace endows Patroclus with the blessing of Hestia, in the form of an ember that has been waiting for a proper bearer for centuries. With the gifts newly given to him, can Patroclus manage to defy Fate itself to find Achilles, survive Troy, avoid the ire of the proud and dangerous Greek kings, and put an end to the cycle of tragedy that has plagued heroes for as long as they have existed?

Summary
His face is in the crook of my neck, where it belongs, where it has always fit so well like a key and a lock, the key to his caged heart. He is weeping once again, and it feels like the whole world is shaking with the force of his sobs.
“Achilles.” I whisper, tears flowing down my face once again and he wails even louder. For once, words don’t find him. He who was always better with them, cannot find them now.
“My Achilles.” I say again louder this time. And again, and again until I don’t know how many times I’ve said it, mind empty, ears hearing nothing but his sobs. I remember how for hours after my death he could not utter another word other than my name and I understand. I say it again and again the lovely vowels, the striking consonants of his name fitting perfectly in my mouth as if I was made to chant it.
A direct continuation of the ending of the book. Achilles and Patroclus reunite in the Underworld but the wounds of the past have still not faded and Achilles's guilt threatens to consume him whole. But now Patroclus is there. They talk of their time apart, they remember a time where they were two young boys in love, they cry, they laugh, they cry again. They were the first heroes to be happy.

Summary
“I want you to sing to me while you play my mother’s lyre.”
He looks almost confused but he will not refuse me. One time only he refused me, and it almost costed him everything. He doesn’t know that it still will.
“Alright, but afterwards you will drink and eat. You need your strength back. You have lost too much blood.” And even as he says it, he cowers from the truth of it, from how close he was to losing me. His relief that he hasn’t.
“I will. Now come, sit here in our bed, I will lay my head in your lap, like we did when we were boys remember?”
“Yes” he says longingly, a small smile painting his lovely features and right now he looks so much like that boy it almost brings me to tears again.
Or a reimagining of the scene of Patroclus's death. Instead of dying on the battlefield, Patroclus lives long enough to be returned to Achilles. But while he knows that he will not survive, he has convinced Achilles that he will. His final wish: to let his lover's voice guide him to the Underworld. This is a two-part story. The first chapter will depict the events from the battlefield up until Patroclus's last breath, and the second chapter Achille's reaction to his lover's unexpected death.

Summary
Odysseus heard their rumors; their gossip. It was impossible not to. Even so, he’d never before believed their words. Until perhaps this one.
As of recently, the rumor of the hour pertained to the hero of the hour—Achilles.
He had garnered his fair share of attention before now. Have you heard? They would say. He is invulnerable. Listeners would laugh, but believe it nonetheless. And why shouldn’t they? He had never been injured in the year he had resided with the rest of the unlucky. The rumors surrounding him now do not relate to his skill—hardly to him at all—but instead to his unusual closeness with his companion.
or;
5 times Odysseus’ suspicions towards the nature of Achilles and Patroclus’ relationship grew, and the 1 time they were confirmed.

Summary
"Half of her is Arthur." The dragon spoke calmly, which didn't match the slight curling of its mouth at all. It made Merlin uneasy. "And the other half..."
"Is her mother?" Merlin figured, not really seeing why the dragon was actually grinning now.
That was how children worked, no? One half father, the other half mother. That's how they were made. But the dragon made Merlin rethink his assumption as apparently, he seemed to be very, very wrong.
"The other half is magic." The dragon waited for Merlin to react, but the young warlock didn't. With a disappointed huff, he added, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, "Half of her is you, Merlin. You are magic."
That did not add up on so many levels. And yet, Merlin didn't know how to contradict the dragons' statement. His vision blurred, his heart racing out of control.
"I... I'm a mother now?!"
"Merlin, no-"

Summary
Achilles, the sun casting its last rays around his head like a halo, resplendent and aureate.
Achilles, the soles of his feet flashing pink as he sprints across the beach.
Achilles, slender fingers plucking the strings of his lyre, eyes green like fresh pressed olives. His cat's smile.
"Guess what I'm thinking about," he says.
The robin that flew over our heads but a minute past. The dream he had last night of a ship with purple sails, its prow slicing the waves of the Aegean sea. The wooden amulet that hangs about the augur's neck. This and this and this.
"I'll be the first hero to be happy," he would tell me years later. "You're the reason."
A collection of all the scenes we didn't get to see in The Song of Achilles. Follows the timeline of the book.
