It might be messed up of me to think this, but I was so glad that Simon’s an omega.
Something about Simon’s soothing, omega presence was, really, really, really nice. I was genuinely so happy that the one other human being we found was an omega.
It also just made stuff easier when cycles came around.

“Y-yes?” I was utterly flummoxed, and completely pink in the face.
“You’re in pre-heat.” His nose rubbed against mine, scenting me. I could barely hear what he was saying over my loud purring. “And so am I. We’ve synced.”

Summary
Ryland Grace gets called in to look at Astrophage and make first contact with an alien species. To bad he made first contact a while ago, it's just that nobody knew. Getting to work on Project Hail Mary might just be the second best thing to ever happen to him as it means Grace reunites with someone he thought lost. Maybe. There still a sun to save.
But at least now he has Rocky back.

A series in which Rocky is human shaped but still very alien, he and Grace are in a non platonic QPR, and the sun is still dying. It's basically a humanoid Rocky AU canon divergence to the book and movie!

“Did Simon forget that I am much larger? And stronger?” Adrian asks in a hair raising tone, the claw of their limb bumping Simon’s chest testily like a human tapping a foot.
Simon’s eyes are huge.
Blown out wide with the man’s shock.
Second by second, their face flushes until its so dark it teeters on being purple. He could tease about how strongly Simon reacted to this display of strength but…
He’s no better.
He can’t remember the last time his face has been this hot.

“I don’t一” Simon’s voice is soft and broken and he hates it, he hates the fear permeating his entire body. “I don’t want you to be a hallucination.”
Grace’s faint mumbles and a strange whistling voice die down. Then Grace says, “This is real. It’s real, and we’re getting you out. I promise.”
Simon closes his eyes. He breathes out.
“My name,” he says. His voice is rough with unshed tears. “My name is Simon.”
“Nice to meet you, Simon. Hang tight. We’ll be there soon.”
