Summary
IN RETROSPECT BUCK SHOULD'VE SEEN IT COMING, the universe had a funny way of warning him when shit would hit the fan.
It happened with Abby, he should've connected the dots when they were called out to the place where Buck had tried to set up a date with her and then a few days later Abby came barreling into his life with a fiancé - a painful reminder of what he once had and could have had with her.
Then Eddie happened and then Buck should've really seen it coming, nothing good in life ever comes without with a price. He was happy, happier than he'd ever been, he should've known that it wouldn't last, that his past would come knocking, bringing back demons he spent years burying.

Summary
Evan Buckley joined the SEALs at 19 and stuck with it. Now at 30, he is a firefighter who never told anyone about his past career, his team, and how disastrously it ended. That is until he comes home from shift one day to find a deployment issue in the mail. He finds himself forced to confront his past, tell his new family everything that isn’t classified, and deal with some old ghosts coming to life. Though none of it is necessarily in a bad way.

Summary
Evan “Buck” Buckley was not an honest person as much as he would like to be or even was trying to be in his own way. His dishonesty wasn’t malicious in the slightest though. He had his reasons, of course, but his entire identity was built on a shaky Jenga tower of lies. As much as he built it up, one by one the blocks were still removed over the years making the tower less and less stable.
Buck joined the 118 fresh out of the Navy and braced himself for all the questions that were about to come his way which he did not want to answer. Then, like a gift from above, somehow and shockingly, no one had read his resume, and he found he could start all over again, be a new person, someone completely different or maybe who he was supposed to be all along.
