In one fluid motion, the weretiger pushed Dazai to the ground and wheeled around to face the man bathed in moonlight, only to be struck dead in the chest by a beam of pure blue light. The impact left as quickly as it came, leaving a gaping hole near the center of his shirt. It knocked the breath out of him and his knees buckled, the world falling away at the corners of his vision as he struggled to breathe… Then Dazai’s arms were under his, keeping him from falling as he shouted his name over and over.
