Summary
Feyd-Rautha's gaze sharpened. He took hold of Paul's wrist, his thumb and middle finger meeting as he squeezed it. "About?"
"I asked if I could see a sandworm," Paul replied.
"They are difficult to kill."
The na-Baron received a frown and an imperiously arched eyebrow from his husband. "To see one, I said. Not to kill it."
"Is that all? Then what's the issue?" Now Feyd-Rautha's attention returned to Liet. "There are plenty of sandworms in the desert. Those sandcrawlers certainly spend enough time avoiding them. My husband wishes to see one."

Summary
It is said in the days after Paul Atreides was stolen away from Caladan that Duke Leto Atreides and the Lady Jessica bewailed that the Emperor had ever requested those of the Landsraad, all of the Great Houses, Major and Minor, to attend him at Kaitain, for it was there that Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen first saw their son and connived to have him. The Harkonnen's plan bore fruit three years later, when, after celebrations for Paul Atreides's coming of age, the heir to the storied and honorable House was kidnapped and brought to Giedi Prime, whereupon the na-baron declared him his husband and mate.

Summary
Diarmuid is aware of anatomy, of sinew and muscle, of the way God crafted man, but now he is aware in a completely different way. He thinks, So, this is how a man should look, and cannot stop looking at the Mute, whose naked chest and arms are thick and defined and covered in scars and with hair that is dark and curly and just as damp from sweat as the rest of him.
---
Pre-canon. Diarmuid sees the Mute without a tunic for the first time.

Summary
"Did you enjoy yourself tonight?" asks Leto as he slips underneath the covers.
Jessica takes her time answering. It amuses him that she gives equal and careful consideration to any question regardless of its topic or importance, and so she continues to do so. She replies, "The tea was quite good."
He groans, rubbing his hand across his face. "Is that all?"
---
Pre-canon, Jessica POV. Jessica attends a social function, has a startling conversation with some of the ladies, and muses on her relationship with Leto.

Summary
Baron Vladimir Harkonnen cited an ancient law that stated due to the rarity of omegas, an eligible alpha—meaning unmarried, unmated, and of the same social class as their intended—had the right to court an eligible omega. This meant that his nephew, the na-Baron Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, had the right to Paul's attention despite the official and long-standing enmity between House Atreides and House Harkonnen.
The Landsraad discussed it among themselves with all the gravity of a trade dispute or military action.
The alpha had the right, they decided.
Paul's father, in a dark rage and after intense consultation with his Mentat Thufir Hawat, had answered with another ancient law: the alpha would be muzzled.
---
Omegaverse, Paul POV. Omega Paul is courted by a muzzled Alpha Feyd.

Summary
It was not the first kiss that surprised him, for it had been everything Paul had expected from Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen—heated, and hungry, and triumphant. The subsequent kisses, however, were entirely astonishing. Paul had not thought there would be subsequent kisses, and the ones that he received were—of all things—tender.

Paul wonders at Feyd-Rautha's interest in kissing him.

Summary
The upper body of Feyd's sparring partner slumps to the safety of the mat, and Feyd unceremoniously drops the rest of him to the floor, legs deadweight. Feyd spits out a black mouthguard and says, mocking, "Good effort."
Someone hands him a towel. Feyd wicks the sweat from his face, his bare, glistening chest, and then he raises his head and his gaze finds Paul's.

Summary
Feyd-Rautha's voice went dangerously soft. He was very still, entire body tense; Paul suspected that he was keeping himself in check so as to not shake with rage. "What reason could you have had to not attend my match? I had been looking forward to seeing you there. You have not disappointed me before." He tilted his head to one side, a predator eyeing his prey. "So, a factor out of your control must have prevented your presence, yes? You felt ill?"
"I chose not to go, rather than be insulted," said Paul.
His husband growled, baring his blackened teeth. "What insult?"

Summary
Paul has hair everywhere—though he is not obscenely hairy like so many other Caladanin men. It is apparently a sore point that he cannot grow a beard; why he would ever want to is a mystery to Feyd. He enjoys the fine hairs on Paul's cheeks—peach fuzz, he thinks it's colloquially called—but it would be a shame not to be able to see the sharpness of his jaw, the angles of his face. The hair on his head is dark and curly and falls just above his shoulders, and once or twice Feyd has twirled a lock around his finger and watched Paul watch him with curiosity.
---
Feyd really enjoys Paul's hair.

The Harkonnen's expression shifted like the scales of a coiling snake. He tilted his head to one side, staring at Gurney with an unblinking, unwavering gaze. He asked, "Do you wish it was you?"
Gurney scoffed. "What are you on about?"
"You've served the Duke of Caladan so loyally for decades," said Feyd-Rautha. "Do you think you deserve his son's affections?" He stepped closer, hissed, "Do you wish to have his lips on that ugly, scarred face of yours?"

Summary
Paul watches Earl Bertille slosh red wine onto the tablecloth—their hostess's nostrils flare—looks aside at Feyd-Rautha and sees him staring at the Earl with an unconcealed sneer, and, feeling grateful for having been given in marriage to a man with some discipline and self-respect at least, slides his hand along Feyd-Rautha's firm thigh and gives it a squeeze.
His husband turns to him with a questioning glance. Paul smiles, and means to convey, What a display this is! With everything that we are, at least we're not like that!
Feyd-Rautha responds with a slight tilt of his head and a small upturn of the corners of his mouth before returning to their meal.

Summary
"Hello, Gurney!" said Paul. "Would you like to join us for tea?" His hand hovered near the sugar tongs.
At another time, he would have accepted. The heir to a Great House needed an education beyond war—deportment and courtesy were important parts of politicking. But he was here for another matter entirely. Gurney squared his shoulders. He said, "Paul, I'm going to ask you a question, and I want you to answer me honestly."
The boy nodded.
"Did you put sand in my bed?"
Paul nodded once more and said, proudly, "Yes!"

Summary
Feyd-Rautha's teeth are lacquered; black and gleaming, like polished obsidian, like the fathoms of the sea, like a starless night sky.
Paul runs his index finger inside the Harkonnen's mouth, probing, exploratory. Each tooth is perfectly formed and—he presses the underside of Feyd-Rautha's canine—perfectly sharp. His breath is hot, and comes in barely controlled pants, and his tongue is wet as it slides along the creases of Paul's fingers.
"Behave yourself," Paul tells him.
Feyd-Rautha groans.

Summary
Sidling next to Paul, Feyd kisses him, first on the cheek, then on the neck. Then he slides his hand along Paul's inner thigh.
Paul stops him. "Here," he says, slipping a bracelet onto Feyd's wrist. "Alia made this for you."
Feyd looks at it—a chevron pattern of blue, green and gold. "She made this?"
A ghost of a smile graces Paul's lips. "Yes, and she was very insistent that I give it to you when I next saw you." His fingers slip underneath the bracelet to rest on Feyd's pulse. "And she wasn't sure what your favorite colors are, so she just picked the ones she likes best."
He doesn't have favorite colors, because he's not a kindergartner.

Summary
White for poison, black for purity.
It is the pure blade that caresses Paul's skin. Feyd-Rautha draws the point along Paul's cheek so lightly that it very nearly tickles. When he reaches Paul's chin, he pauses to brush away the shorn vellus hair along Paul's face, examining it with mild interest.
"Feyd-Rautha," Paul says.
The Harkonnen replies, "Hush. Captives don't speak without being spoken to." He holds his hand upright, his palm flat, and purses his full lips to blow away the bits of Paul's hair that had collected on his fingers. All the while, his other hand holds the blade at Paul's jugular.

Summary
Enough time passed that Paul thought that the suggestion had slipped from Feyd-Rautha's mind. A mere whim, spoken aloud, and that, upon Paul's concession, swiftly lost its excitement and thus the na-Baron's attention.
He should have known. Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen forgot nothing.
One day, a servant told Paul that the na-Baron requested his presence in the pleasure wing.

Summary
"Mama's dying!" Paul's entire body heaved as he sobbed. "She's been poisoned!"
Poison? When would she have been poisoned? A trained Sister of the Bene Gesserit could identify a poison within her body, slow her metabolism to stymie its effects, and then neutralize it—all within seconds! All without anyone else knowing what had occurred! She would teach the skill to Paul when he was old enough. But his statement now bewildered her just as much as it clearly bewildered Leto, who gave her a searching look, as though attempting to see if there were truly toxins flowing in her bloodstream.
Jessica cupped either side of Paul's face with her hands. "I haven't been poisoned, Paul. I'm perfectly fine! Look at me—don't I seem well?"
Their son rubbed at his eyes with a chubby fist. "But you—you ate the blackberries without testing them with the poison-snooper."

He took his thumbs and smoothed them over his husband's heavy brow. He repeated the motion, starting at the middle of Feyd-Rautha's forehead and ending at his temples.
Paul asked, "How does that feel?"
"Pleasant," replied Feyd-Rautha. His eye were half-closed, his full lips parted. "You may continue." Imperious even in relaxation.

Summary
She laughed. It was a sound that could captivate many a man in the Imperium, and had, until recently, captivated Leto. Aristagora said, "Ah, look at that! You've become more duke than man to me! Have you given Doricha and Phyrne parting gifts as well? You have, haven't you! What a woman this Jessica of the Bene Gesserit must be!"
Interesting that Aristagora knew his bound-concubine's name. Neither Doricha nor Phyrne had mentioned her, but if one had heard about Jessica, the others surely had as well. The most sought after, most well-renowned hetairai of Caladan could put Thufir's own spies to shame. But of course, it was part of their job to know the goings-on of their highborn clientele. "The Lady Jessica—" Leto said, pointedly, "—is remarkable, yes."
---
Leto adores his newly arrived bound-concubine, and thinks it a logical step to bid goodbye to the hetairai he previously kept company with.
