Summary
When Tony Stark agreed to allow Bucky to stay in the tower, Steve couldn't help but worry about how that would go. Despite the awkward moments, Bucky was able to make a smooth transition into living at the tower, and eventually joining the team.
Now, almost a year later, there seems to be a routine that everyone is comfortable with. This is until some strange things start happening.
Steve starts to get more injured then usual on missions. Little injuries that would typically heal before he ever noticed them, let alone the rest of the team. Steve is shrugging it off as 'part of the job', but Bucky isn't as convinced.
How will Bucky's over protectiveness clash with Steve's stubborn tendencies? Will the extra stress destroy the baseline they have created in the tower? And what is happening with the serum?

The curtains weren't drawn. He watched Steve run a shaky hand through his hair, saw him fight not to break down in the middle of his own apartment. He adjusted his position slightly, settling in. He could stay for hours like this, days if he had to. Steve didn't know it yet, but someone was watching over him now.

He looks over his shoulder, through the kitchen door, to where Bucky is sitting at his usual place at the head of the dining table, and he feels an unconstrainable smile breaking out across his face, the barest hint of threatening tears along its bright edge.

Bucky is still looking past Steve’s left ear, but slowly, gingerly, one side of his mouth quirks up. Steve feels giddy, he wants to shout, or faint, or something to relieve the carbonated pressure that is bubbling up inside of him. Instead, he laughs, short and cheerful, and opens the oven door.

Again Bucky made no movement. The only sign that told Steve he was listening was the dip in his shoulders, and the upturn of his head.
“They said you wanted to see me,” Steve said, stepping forwards, “did you?”
Bucky looked up then. Steve’s heart dropped into his stomach, because behind the steely gaze, he could see the soft blue that had looked into his as they kissed and made love in the quiet and peace of their home, fearful of the neighbours hearing them.
Did he remember that? The way Steve clung to him and moaned? The way they kissed and kissed, the way Bucky’s thrusts would quicken when Steve’s breath hitched. The way Steve would pant and whine, helpless in Bucky’s arms, the way Bucky would whisper sweet nothings in Steve’s ear as they both came, with Bucky finishing inside him.
“You were smaller,” Bucky noted, bringing Steve back to the present, “and you…were sick a lot of the time.”
