At the end of the war, Zuko does his best to step into the place of Firelord, but after a hundred years of war, the Fire Nation is having a difficult time adjusting to a new type of regime. After several assassination attempts, Sokka decides to stay in the the palace until things start to calm down, and take care of Zuko as he recovers from his near-death experience.

After the spirit senses Sokka's conflicted feelings for Zuko, his friend and former enemy that he may or may not love, she decides to help him out. The problem is that her help is more of a curse! As each day goes by, it seems like something new and weird is happening to his body! It doesn't help that being near Zuko is driving him crazy in ways it never has before. What did the spirits do to him?!In which A/B/O doesn't exist in the world of ATLA yet, but I make Sokka patient zero, and then it becomes everyone's problem.

After the two of them decide to take their chances, they find themselves growing close after sharing the night by camplight…and realize one of them definitely ingested the toxin.

Summary
Right after Boiling Rock, Zuko found Sokka sprawled in his tent with a bouquet of red roses, and a ring of romantic candles, and one final rose set between his teeth. With the littlest twinge of envy, Zuko realized the entire display was for Suki.
The point is Sokka's flirting is about as subtle as a buffalo yak. To miss it, you’d have to be a complete and utter airhead.

“Oh, me? I’m single. Very single. Single as a Pringle. But not like a Pringle in a thing full of other Pringles. I’m like, the last lonely Pringle at the bottom of the can.”
Zuko is just a simple FBI agent trying to run a background check on Sokka, an engineer who's applied to work for the government, but Sokka's chaotic past is making the process...complicated. Still, Zuko doesn't mind too much as long as it means he can talk to the weirdly charming stranger at the other end of the line for as long as it takes for him to sort all those complications out.

And I really want to ask him for his number, but it’s super awkward because there’s always this other guy working the information desk at the same time. He’s old, like you. But I have a plan." Sokka’s eyes lit up deviously. “You come with me to Barnes & Noble today when they’re working and distract the old man. And while you have him distracted, I’ll swoop in and get the goods!”
Sokka has a plan to ask out the cute boy at the bookstore. Hakoda is a begrudging participant until he meets the boy's beautiful older coworker.
