Summary
They pulled open the exterior doors, expecting to find just the empty entryway. She was not expecting to see Pyro leaning against the wall, with a bored expression on their face. She watches his face light up when he sees her open the door, only for it to drop as he notices Drift and Cleo behind her. They panic, slamming the door shut again.
"…What was that about?" Cleo asks, their arms crossed.
"Pyro was there." She responded shakily, not turning to face the two behind her, "I wasn't expecting him to be just inside the doorway. Let me- Let me talk to him. They trust me still because of Truffle."
Drift cut Cleo off before they could give another snide comment, stepping forward to place a comforting hand on Apo's shoulder, "Good idea, let them know we're not a threat."
Apo nodded stiffly before reaching for the door again, letting Drift's hand fall away as they slipped inside. Trying not to flinch at the loud bang of the wood shutting behind her.

Summary
Owen went still has Louis' words sunk in. He turned his head enough to take another look at ancient vampire. Sure enough, his hair was a bright cyan. Which would normally mean he was in a weakened state—a state he shouldn't be in if he had been the cause of those attacks, that much human blood should have him practically back at his strength from six hundred years ago. It had to be him though—the date of the first murder lined up with when they believed he had woken up, he would have been starving then, not to mention all the stories surrounding his reign. Goldsmith being the killer is what made sense. There had to be an explanation to the hair thing.

He stepped further into the room, tilting his head slightly as he moved towards her—studying her, "Well," he starts, "It does seem like you got up to some things while we were away. Someone's been busy."
"Oh, well," She took a step back, grabbing the broom leaning against the banquet table, "I didn't do much, just swept up a bit—found a few floorboards coming up so I nailed them down…"
"I meant more in turning someone."

Summary
They keep up an idle conversation as they shop, Shelby eventually giving him the list they wrote so he has something to do. The two turned down another aisle, Shelby pulling over next to the shelves as she left Scott next to the cart to search for something farther down. He set the paper down as he waited, picking at his nails to pass the time. He was pulled from his thoughts about how he missed having claws by what sounded like another familiar voice in the distance. His ears twitched slightly as he listened, trying to catch the voice again.
Sure enough, Pyro could be heard among the ceaseless chatter in the building. He was talking to someone, though Scott couldn't make out exactly what. His ears flicked again as he gauged which direction the voices were coming from before wandering out of the aisle and farther into the store in search of his boyfriend.

Summary
"Pyro!" She beamed up at him, "You're back early! How was your hunt?"
They swallowed back another growl, claws twitching with the desire to harm. He crossed his arms, digging the sharp points into his own skin, he couldn't possibly risk lashing out at Shelby. Shelby never questioned him and Scott except that one time, when everything was still so new. She was probably his closest friend here, she didn't deserve to be the victim of his wrath. They managed to spit out a response after a moment,"It was going great."
Her bright smile dimmed slightly as she took in his sour mood, tilting her head a bit, "Did something happen? Where's Scott?"
"A human happened. Specifically, Legundo. Sire sent me home because he wanted to have a private conversation with him."
"Ooh no."

Summary
"Hey, Pyro," she called over, watching as they man in question looked away from the vampire and towards her, "Can you help me in the kitchen for a sec?"
"Oh- uh, sure." He gets up and walks around the counter into the small kitchen, "What do you need?"
She pulled him further into the small room, away from the living room and whispered, "Something is wrong with Scott."
His shoulder's dropped, "You've noticed it too?"

Summary
"See this is what I'm talking about, Pyro!" The doctor was glaring at Scott, gesturing at the him as he spoke, "Why does he need to know what our conversation was about? You shouldn't have to tell him everything you talk to others about. That's just another way he is trying to control you!"
Pyro was seething against him, "He doesn't-" They let out a frustrated growl, "Would you stop saying that!?"
"Relax, my love," He soothed, noting the way the doctor's fists clenched in his own anger as Scott pressed a kiss to Pyro's hair, "as much as I adore how you look covered in blood, let's avoid violence for right now. Why don't you head back to the castle? Shelby should be home, and I think I would like a word alone with dear ol' doc."

Summary
He groaned, laying across the oak wood and burying his head in his arms. He allowed himself to just wallow in his own misery until he heard the office door open. He shifted his head to watch as Louis shut the door behind him with a quiet click and turned the lock. He sat up more as his husband turned towards him—getting a proper look at the expression on his face. Louis looked stressed, it took a lot to make Louis stressed.

Summary
Apo stood at the entrance to the castle, fiddling with the rope held in her hands. What the hell was she even doing here? This was basically enemy territory! Their job was- is to protect the town, protect the people of Oakhurst. Fraternizing with the castle inhabitants went directly against that! Not to mention he was in there. She really didn't want to deal with that noble jerk of an elder vampire. They were contemplating turning back around and leaving, they shouldn't be here, this wasn't where they belonged. They were broken out of their contemplation by the feeling of a snout pressing into their hand. Right, the reason they came here. She sighed, giving Truffle a quick pet on the head, unable to resist smiling as the pig snuffed in contentment. Once Truffle was satisfied, she stood back up, staring at those giant wooden doors, gathering the courage to knock. Truffle snorted beside her, and she banged her fist on the door.

Summary
It was odd, he would admit, looking at the man who killed so many innocent people. It felt even stranger watching said man talk about it while lazily laying across the couch of a tiny apartment in an oversized burgundy hoodie, one of the strings idly held in his mouth, as if he was telling an embarrassing story and not admitting to having committed various crimes against humanity. "Guess it's a good thing you're taking a different approach this time then, right?"
"Yeah, a six century time-out really gives a guy time to think." Scott joked, giving Pyro one of those smiles that made their heart race. His fangs weren't fully extended, but Pyro could see they were starting to poke out, a reminder of Scott's hunger and of Pyro's ridiculous idea. He can't believe he was about to ask this...

Summary
They stood there, silently staring as the tension became thick. Owen was seconds away from speaking, wanting to say anything to break the silence. He did not come all the way out here, wasting precious nighttime he could be using to hunt to just be stared at. He opened his mouth to tell the doctor such, when Legs finally spoke, beating him to it.
"How much did you know?"
"Pardon?"

Summary
"I guess what I'm asking is…would you mind…teaching me? About what I missed?"
Pyro felt his heart tug a bit, he had only just met this man, and already he was being trusted with information like this. "I- Scott, of course I'll help. I can find some of my old textbooks lying around, maybe start with some basics."
Scott grinned, that entrancing sparkle back in his eyes as Shelby gave out a quiet squeal, leaning forward to grab their hands, "Oh that's so sweet of you, Pyro! Thank you!" she let out a gasp, "I know! You can come to the apartment tomorrow! I'll order some take-out and we'll make a night of it!"
"That sounds like a lovely idea, Shelby." Scott looked at Pyro again, "What do you say? Tomorrow?"
"Sounds like a plan."

Summary
"You're name's Shelby, is it?" The man said with a hum. Now that she had a closer look at him, he kind of looked like the pictures of the infamous Lord Goldsmith from her textbooks. The same blue eyes and almost cyan in color hair. The clothes were similar as well, though this man looked much thinner, his face was gaunt, like he hadn't eaten in a while. "I suppose I could answer your question. If you are willing to answer one of mine as well?"

Summary
She got out of bed and went downstairs to find Pearl already at the door, the voices of the rest of the townsfolk filtering in. The two went outside together, finding the source of the commotion.
It was Pyro. The vampire was surrounded by the townsfolk, Martyn brandishing his silver sword while Avid was aiming a stake, Pyro himself was backed up against the wall of the Doctor’s house, holding up his hands in surrender.

Legundo sighed, “This isn’t a trap is it…?”
“It’s not, I swear. Here look,” He watched as they held up a bottle of viscous red liquid, “I had a cow on the way here, and I kept some of the leftovers. No need to worry about me getting hungry.”
“Fine. Come around to the front, and just, stay out of sight.”
“Trust me, I don’t plan on being seen here.”
Legundo opened the front door to Pyro already on the other side, “Come on inside. Let’s talk.”

Summary
Scott looked over at the younger of the two vampires now. Owen stared right back at him, a distrustful look on his face despite how non-threatening the glittery red horns on his head made him look. He couldn't help but think about how rude he was being. He hadn’t killed a single person since waking up! He was behaving! He even agreed to come to this silly party instead of continuing with his original plans of letting Pyro and Shelby show him what a horror “movie” was.

“Pyro. Step away. From the pig.” She levels the sword at them, they both know it won’t fully kill them, but the threat was still there.
“Apo?” His smile fell, Truffle letting out a snort of annoyance as he stood, hands raised in a non-threatening display, “Hey, come on, there’s no need for all that.”
“I said. Step away.”

Summary
Owen yanked himself out of the memories. He needed to leave, needed to go anywhere, anywhere that wasn’t here seeing them being so…happy. He turned, exiting as quietly as he came. Hoping he went unnoticed by the rest of the room’s occupants as he stepped into the shadows, vanishing into the night.
