Summary
Stede finds the house. When he comes back to their room at the inn, he won’t rest—won’t let Ed rest—until Ed’s seen it. His eyes are bright in that way that makes Ed’s guts feel scooped out with a spoon. So Ed hurries into his boots and goes with him.
The once-white paint is stripped by weather and wear, a portion of the roof is caved in, and the spokes of the wraparound porch are all gnawed through by animals.
Ed gazes up at the broken windows and the birds that have built nests there. At his side, Stede is waiting, rocking back and forth on his heels.
"It’s perfect," says Ed.

“Shut up.” He imagines the deep color of it against his skin, smooth material dragging against his nipples. At least until Stede untied those little bows, and then… “You’d really want to see me in something like that?”
Stede finally, blessedly, closes the distance. One hand loops, feather light, around Ed’s wrist, the other at his waist.
“I’d want anything that would make you feel nice.”

Ed goes still and a bit cross-eyed, staring down at the hand on his mouth. Stede moves it away, with a mouthed “sorry!” focusing intently on the sounds outside the shed instead.
In the alley, hurried steps and shouting voices rush past; they catch fragments of: “Where the fuck did they go then?” or “Keep looking!” and even “The short one looks like a bloody birthday cake, how do you lose that—”

Everyone knew that Ed would flinch if you tried to touch him. It was fine if he touched you first, but if you reached out without him preparing himself for it, he would normally shift out of the way until he knew what you were doing. It wasn’t that he disliked touch, just that many years of being shot at and stabbed did tend to make people suspicious.
It had been almost a month since the crew had been back together, and despite the long nights of angry yelling being far in the past, they hadn’t made much in the way of progress for acceptable touch again.
Ed had convinced himself that he didn’t need it, even if he missed it.
Stede had convinced himself that Ed had moved on from the whole romance idea.
Lucius was exhausted with both of them.

Originally titled the 'woo-ing of Sarah Williams' this series is written out of order, and updated completely at random. Pika-la-Cynique's girls next door dynamic inspired this series.
