Hhehehehe I’m happy now like overjoyed. God do I love fanfics and genuinely this series might be one of my favourites by far like holy shit bro. And I haven’t gotten tired or wanted to stop reading it at any point bc it’s just so interesting. This one also showed riddle’s overblot and I don’t blame him, he was stressed and his ways that he’s known all his life were being challenged by an underclassman who insulted his whole. I liked Ace in the third season more bc at least then they were all buddy buddy and he was more calm.

Failure was all too subjective of an emotion.
After all, failure cannot come without success, albeit that they rarely occur for the same person at once.After killing off an enemies’ organization, he would be considered successful by Mori’s standards. Simultaneously, said enemies, their families, and everything they stood for had failed. While he celebrated his success, others were preparing for a mass funeral.
How was one ever supposed to act morally correct and grow to be a successful man if it was literally impossible? Dazai had long ago recognized this universal truth and anchored himself to the belief that, if he was to cause harm anyway, it might as well not be him.
Probably the only one to see this truth as it is and not act as what is commonly deemed as selfish was Odasaku and that lead him into a horribly unnecessary death.Of course, Dazai did seek out death and maybe it would be smart to follow a moral compass that would inevitably cause your tragic downfall, but one could not follow this path while being a traitor to his nature. And Dazai’s nature was a deadly one.
(This takes place shortly after Dazai joined the ADA)

On the third anniversary of Oda’s death, the first since he had been with the Armed Detective Agency, Dazai took the day off. He didn’t tell anyone else, nor did he feel like informing them of the possibility that he wouldn’t return. He simply left, turned off his phone, and headed to the bar, his heart heavy. As per usual, drinking himself into an early grave sounded much better than anything else Dazai could plan at this time of year.
While he didn't exactly love his solitude, he didn't expect someone to join him, much less the Agency's best detective.
Dazai should ask why Ranpo came, how he found him, and everything in between, but instead…

Atsushi feels long, slender hands gently lift off the blanket covering him. Dazai was never one for sentimentals. Maybe a smile or pat on the shoulder, or a word of encouragement, but it was….nice, though unusual, for him to be so kind. Gentle.
“Da…zai-san,” Atsushi slowly mumbles out, voice croaky and Atsushi instantly coughs. It hurts, his throat feeling so dry. His lips were thirsty, and after his coughing fit, Atsushi licks them wet.
“Sh,” Dazai says, his bandaged hand brushing against his forehead, pushing back Atsushi’s white bangs. “Ah, Atsushi-kun…you’re burning up. How long have you had a fever?”
