Summary
For the most part, it was easy to tell what someone’s second gender would be when they were born. If they had a sweeter scent, they would present as an omega; a muskier scent would present as an alpha. For a beta’s scent, it would have a more neutral tone. Whether or not they present with a rut or heat would give the final say for their second gender.
The main scent glands would also develop within the earlier stages of life, with the final ones coming in at the ages of four-to-five years old. This unfortunately meant that mating bites could be placed upon someone as early as six years old, but most people respected the right to choose one's own mate.
Unfortunately for people born in the underground, the choice was not a right.
