Bolaire shakes his head vehemently. “You don’t know what I am—not truly.”
“I know exactly what you are,” Azune says, soft but unyielding. “You are my friend, and Hal’s friend—but you don’t want to hear that right now, so let’s speak on your terms:
“You are a weapon. But more than that: you are a weapon that wields itself. A weapon doesn’t need to understand its cause, but the wielder does, or the force behind it ends up warped and wasted. You want to fight for what you feel for Halandil Fang? Good. Let me help you name it.”

Azune flinched as Bolaire raised his hands to cup the young man’s cheeks, covering both his birthmark and more than one bruise and bloodstain. “You know who I am?” The mask asked. A nod into his hands. “Good. Listen to me carefully, my dear. If you want, I can take it all away for a little while. If you put me on, I will get us both out of here, and you don’t have to see or think about anything. How does that sound?”

After being kidnapped and held for ransom by one of the city's younger and more reckless thieves guilds, Azune is injured and traumatized to the point where his friends can't rescue him without hurting him worse. Letting Bolaire put him on/putting on the mask lets Hal, Bolaire, and Murray get him out of there, but taking him off again will be a lengthier, and gentler, process.

Summary
If Bolaire was being honest, he was expecting more questions surrounding his recent reveal. Then days passed, and it looked like no one wanted to be the first to break the ice. They were at a stalemate, an impasse with neither side wanting to be the first to come out with it.

Summary
In the few brief heartbeats before his current body collapsed beneath him, Bolaire hoped he would dream of Hal. He'd never dreamt before, but what had there been to dream of? The Schemers wouldn't force Bolaire onto someone. No matter how much Hal might care about Bolaire as a friend, there were lines he wouldn't cross. Shouldn't cross.
When Bolaire's body dies, he resigns himself to be “sleeping” for a long time. Azune, with the help of the other Schemers, refuses to let that happen, even if it means wearing Bolaire himself. What's a little body-sharing between friends, right?
