When Leon receives a late night call from a panicked Emily, he assumes the worst, only to realize it’s no lingering infection. It’s something he’s battled and come out the other side of, maybe not stronger for it, but alive all the same.

The man just nodded as he leaned against a wall. Sure enough, a few minutes later Emily came walking into sight. She was looking around a bit spooked, but once she spotted the man her face morphed into a wide grin and she ran towards him. Leon too broke into a grin at the sight of her, his eyes going soft. He crouched down and wrapped his arms around her as she crashed into him.
“Grampa Leon!”
Pearl blinked huh...she hadn't expected that.
Leon just chuckled and scooped her up, easily holding her in one arm.
