She lives as a boy, lurks in the shadows, and has become pretty good at picking pockets thanks to her small stature. Alone and disliked by the town, this was what she thought her life would be until the day she died in some back alley from sickness or murder. Buggy never had any reason to dream.

Summary
Luffy wasn't Roger's child, and she wasn't a revolutionary, either. She was the granddaughter of a marine, grew up on an island in the middle of the weakest sea, and couldn't think anything through. She wasn't Ace, with his brash drive to prove himself, and she wasn't Sabo, with his wit, and she didn't have the snark of either of them. Still, though, she was larger than life in her own way.
Luffy smiled brighter than the sun, and her heart stretched to make enough room for anyone, and she only ever saw things for how they were. She had saved Ace when he needed her, and she never let Sabo live thinking he didn't have a family, and if there was anyone who could become the Pirate King, Shanks thought it would be her. Hopefully, Roger would be proud of the person he bet the future on.
Or: Luffy's now the older sibling, and a few things change because of it

Out of everything that's happened since Shamrock showed up on the Red Force, meeting Dragon seems to have shaken him the worst. It's odd, because Shamrock hadn't said anything about Dragon before, and he'd known he was coming with Luffy and Sabo. Shanks wouldn't have thought they'd ever met; if they had, surely Shamrock would have had some snide remark to make at Dragon.
But Shamrock seems so utterly poleaxed by Dragon's gift that Shanks is wondering if maybe they did meet-- not in the timeline Shanks and Dragon know, but in that terrible future.

Shanks and Marco are the ones that survive the last stand against the Marines and Teach. Luffy, Nika, sends them back so there is a chance for a second chance. After sharing what he left, Marco goes to look for Shanks and the both of them set course to Dawn and get there just in time to deal with Bluejam/Outlook. MarShanks adopting (kidnapping) the ASL bros and raising them. Making sure that they survive and come out as the monsters they were meant to be. Includes Ace getting all the hugs, Sabo learning how to be a gremlin from Shanks and Buggy. Lastly, Luffy conquering hearts and making allies to keep for when he sets out (no one knows how a rookie knows half the shichibukai or Yonko crews) Sengoku is pulling out his hair when he figures it out and doesn't know how to handle this (no matter what the elders tell him he doesn't want Newgate, Shanks, Mihawk, Katakuri and several others on his ass thanks).
