The propaganda film was practically burned into the insides of Gyorgi's eyelids from how many times he'd recalled it over the years while twisting to face the wall in the dark of his tradesguild barrack bunk, telling himself every time that it was the miracle of reform he was getting off to, and not the split lip mouthing "harder, please, harder, sorry, sorry, sorry," before it had cut to a profile angle showing the wires burrowing into his brain.

What was once a small colony-laden planet was annihilated by a horrifying alien race of giant insects that killed the entire existing human population, relentlessly tearing apart survivors with their massive ovipositors while attempting to lay eggs in their dying bodies. No sane person would go there for a second, nevermind move there permanently! Henrik isn't sane in the slightest however, and he's got a fool-proof plan to be the first human to bounce on one of those ovipositors and live to tell the tale.
