Summary
Ryland Grace is doing a pretty good job at not mourning all the things he doesn't remember. It helps that he's keeping busy 'showing' Rocky as many movies as he can; there's plenty of time now that they've solved the whole 'suns dying' thing and are on the multi-year-long trip to Erid. Grace likes explaining what was happening on screen to his friend. But then an on-screen embrace makes 'kissing' the newest topic of curiosity.

“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.
“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.

"Are you another teacher here?"
"Uh, yeah! I teach science for 6th and 8th grade. What about you?"
"Amaze, amaze. I teach in technology wing. Robotics."
"You new?"
"Yes. Just traveled here few days ago. Applied for job. Got job."

A strange new teacher is hired at Grover Cleveland Middle, and so far, Mr. Grace has heard more gossip than he's heard during his entire 7 years of teaching. He's friendly, but awkward and offputting to the point where people are starting to think he's not human.
An alternate universe where most of the cast are members of the school staff, and Rocky is the weird new teacher who most definitely isn't pretending to be a human to hide from the government officials at NASA trying to study him.
